it's a pretty safe bet that it'll be 18+... maybe 17+, whatever M comes out to. maybe in some countries, the equivalent rating is 18+. don't read too much into it, it's not a big deal.

It's not going to be 18+ here because thats an AO rating and if thats the case the game can't be released. It will be M which is 17+.

As I have said previously Grand Theft Auto IV will obviously receive a 17+ (Mature) rating in the United States and 18 (Adults Only) rating in Britain just like the previous games.

The game is yet to be officially rated outside of Australia however so I expect to see Grand Theft Auto IV rated by the ESRB, BBFC etc by March at some point perhaps at the end of this month, quite soon anyway. I mean the Australian Rating Board classified the game like 3 months ago now? In November I thought it was.

It's strange the drinking age and age of consent to sex are lower in the UK than (at least some of the states of) the US, but you have to wait another year to buy a video game.

Well that's us (the UK) for you. Stupid government, stupid politics.

We seem to have the msg "Guns and knifes don't kill you, the influence of violent video games do" put into place.

Its not even a most likely, its a positive 18+/M rated game. If it was an A only game you couldnt rent it or buy it at many stores, so it would be a stupid thing for RockStar to do, they want to make money, not lose it.

Well here, (the US) you are old enough to go to war at 18, but you can't drink alcohol until your 21... confused.gif

In the uk, you can -

drink - 18 (only buying, drinking at whatever age, as long as it aint in public)

drive - start to learn at 16, can only own a car at 17

sex - 16

smoke - 16 (but peeps want to get it up to 18)

silly for a game that promotes all of these, but is still rated a strong 18+.
