JohnnyDrama
With hands on previews nearing, I've gotta ask, where are the tractor trailers? Some of you are thinking, what the hell is this guy talking about? Well, I'll tell you. I'm speaking of the lack of actual working tractor trailers in past GTA titles. We had a cab, but no trailer. In San Andreas, when we finally got the trailer, we were the only one using the entire 'rig.' No AI was ever seen pulling an actual trailer behind. For me, this took away some of the realism of the traffic on busier roadways. Maybe this wasn't worthy of it's own topic. Oh well. Lock it, and throw away the key. I'm just hoping to hear some confirmation of 'real' working tractor trailers on the freeways of Liberty City. With so much realism being poured into this one - well, it would be the cherry on top for me. Not because I'm obsessed with the trucks themselves (err, no), but because it would make the freeways seem much more realistic, alive. Kroven
I'd have to say that I'm with you on this one man... Would be nice to see more rigs on the road that are actually pulling trailers rather than just the player being the only one with the ability to. NinjaJones
I didn't think of that...I COMPLEATLY agree! I thought it was so cool on that san andreas mission where you had to jack the truck to see it actually being driven by AI...yeah it doesn't take much to facinate me Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/310076-18-wheeler-american-pro-trucker/#findComment-1057463817 Share on other sites
ceedot
It was a thing they left out, but I'm thinking it won't be needed in IV since the State actually consists of 'cities' and not country side. I think that they may leave it out now, because it actually fit SA more than it will for IV. There is always a possibility though, and it's something they could always improve. It's not a large aspect of the game, but they have fixed a lot of things that aren't that important, but make the game great. Emm Ell
I loved the trailers in GTA2, lots of mayhem I'm with ceedot on this one though. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/310076-18-wheeler-american-pro-trucker/#findComment-1057463831 Share on other sites

Moth
but correct me if i'm wrong, dont freeways and highways in a city have trucks going to factories and docks etc? Yeah your right. I see big rigs on highway everyday and i live in the city. So there might be attachable trailers in GTA IV. Kroven
Yeah, tractor trailers are everywhere (including New York). I've heard some great stories of trucks getting jacked, including ones driving through the bad neighborhoods in New York heh heh... I can see it not being that big of a deal to add to GTA IV, but it would be cool to see it. Emm Ell
Come to think of it...doesn't a cop car hit an 18-wheeler/truck in the 3rd trailer? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/310076-18-wheeler-american-pro-trucker/#findComment-1057463914 Share on other sites
Iwuncwuzbusted
Come to think of it...doesn't a cop car hit an 18-wheeler/truck in the 3rd trailer? Yeah, it does. Hopefully we can use them to their full advantage. Thing is, you can only see the front of it. You can't tell if there is a trailer. Jonny04
LMFAO of course trailers are needed thats the whole effing point. "eh ill just drive around a cab for no apparent reason, without a trailer" well that makes sense. It was perhaps a thing they forgot or didn't get around to coding. But if Saints Row can do it hey IV can do it. Imo if they are gonna have ai cabs driving, Fecking add the trailers eh. OK one or two only cabs as u see that in real life for real reasons, but yeh get the trailers. Howard04
There's that, but it's not connected to the actual truck. But atleast we know they are there They are behind the car if you didn't notice Edited February 3, 2008 by Howard04 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/310076-18-wheeler-american-pro-trucker/#findComment-1057464104 Share on other sites
YourNeighborhoodKiller
I liked them in SA, they were pretty fun. But it's not a big deal for me if they include them or not. Ronnyboy
I would love to see how cars react when a jacknifed trailer hits them. SO yeah, i want them back! Eljan81
I'd like there to be AI driven Trucks with the trailers attached also. I also want them to work on the Car Carrier (I foget the name.) If they put it in GTAIV, I hope they got the collision worked out so that it won't destroy what your trying to haul. Isn't there atleast one Nascar curcuit in New York? A great reason to see a Cab and Trailer, to me anyway. In upstate New York near the Canadian border. You wouldn't see a nascar hauler in the city though. autotheftisgrand
I'm game with this one. I'm just imagining a police chase then a trailer hauling gas is in front of you. Then poppin' a few holes in the trailer.... EXPLODES!! KoreRupt
Huge 18-wheelers were one of my fav vehicles to drive around with when I wanted to cause mayhem.. I remember the best times when driving through piled up traffic and smashing my way through with police on my tail.. I hope they are in IV as a usable vehicle as i would very much like to smash through times square in a 18-wheeler.. dragonrock
I hope they improve upon tractor trailers and TOW TRUCKS! Remember in San Andreas whe nyou were towing something (this mostly happened with the tractor) when you turned a tight corner towing something and your vehcile went flying off? JohnnyDrama
Wow, I didn't expect to get so many positive replies. I'm glad others feel as I do. Tractor trailers are an icon of the American roadways, and - in the words of Forrest Gump - go together like peas and carrots. Hey Mister, I agree with what you said, however, I immediately thought about the trucks on the docks of Vice City. Do you recall the six-wheeled trucks that often hauled, what looked to be, pipes and lumber? That's what the article made me think of, not a full-blown tractor trailer 'outfit.' If I'm wrong, all the better. Eljan81
If there is in game vehicle modding (PS3/360) I want to be able to mod the trucks as well. Do you think if the trailers are attachable, Niko will have to raise the gear and such, when connecting the cab and trailer? I know it's off from this particular subject, but I hope you can actually haul stuff via, the sky crane. MrCarmine
hey man i would like to see some full tractor trailers in the game, too, but you never see them on nyc highways. the overpasses were all built too low, and the lanes too narrow. by the time deliveries get to the city, they're put on smaller trucks. you almost NEVER see full 18-wheelers in this city... maybe in jersey, but i don't think R* would restrict a car's spawn locations to one spot since they would then be drivable to others. HOWEVER, jacking 18-wheelers and pawning their contents would be a great minigame, and is feasible considering how much effort went into the one scene where niko has to reclaim the heroin truck from the escaping triad, and he has to climb along the roof and then swing into the cab. those mechanics being programmed in add credence to the possibility of there being jackable semis in the game.
