I like the foos. They can put out some pretty good music. The new album In your Honor, i didn't really like that album. Except for the Friend of a Friend song.

That album isn't too bad. Have you heard "Best of You"? That's one of my favorites from the album, along with "DOA", "The Deepest Blues Are Black", "Hell", and pretty much everything on the first disc.

I didn't like the album because they weren't really rocking like on the other albums. I liked Friend of a Friend because it was about Kurt. confused.gif

Yeah but if a hairbrush that Kurt used was on eBay, you'd buy it, boil it, make a stew from the broth and bathe in it for eternity.

Been listening to lots of Kyuss lately, love their psychedelic sound. Any other fans?

Yeah, I love Kyuss. Welcome to sky valley is one of my all time favourite albums.

You ever heard those Desert Sessions recordings?

Im a big Josh Homme fan (the man behind Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, and The Desert Sessions.)

Josh Homme is kind of a f*ck.

Queens is alright, sometimes, but not as great as a lot of people make them out to be.

Yeah, forming the band synonymous with a scene and later describing the people in that scene (including former bandmates) as "drugged-out losers" isn't exactly the best way to make friends. Maybe that's why Nick Oliveri won't play with him anymore and Desert Sessions has pretty much fell apart.

Your Right. I would. tounge.giftounge.gif

I don't give a crap about what people say about Kurt. He was an awsome guy. You don't like it piss off

Now that's out of the way. Their's this grunge band i've been listening to on Youtube and their Myspace page. It's called Perfect Union. They got some good music.

Dude, if Nirvana was the Corleone Family, you'd be Fredo. As if we didn't have enough anti-Nirvana people already, it's people like you who give them more reason to talk sh*t.

Homme doesn't play with oliveri anymore...oh-nos... whatsthat.gif Oliveri is great, but I don't miss him...

Desert Sessions isn't dead, there is a volume to be released this year.

And the scene he had a part in does kinda suck, as does any "scene" in general.

*edit*- Nirvana blows...

Soundgarden. Just....Soundgarden. Not only were their songs good, but they just f*cking looked cool. And speaking of these guys, Matt Reeder's new Soundgarden Live Guide just got a supreme overhaul:

Lots of cool entertaining info on tons of Soundgarden shows Plenty of cool posters and pics of the band too.

Soundgarden were a great band, and not to mention that Chris Cornell's voice is kick ass.

Did you ever get into Audioslave? Lead singer being Chris and the instrumentals of the band consisting of the members of Rage Against The Machine. They didn't sound anything like Soundgarden or RATM but they still were pretty awesome. All three of the albums they released were impressive.

I'm pretty sure they've split up now though because of the return of RATM.

Oliveri is great and his solo stuff trumps anything Homme has done post-Kyuss. That goes for the various projects the other members of Kyuss have been in as well... Brant Bjork and the Bros, Mondo Generator, Slo Burn, Unida, Hermano, Fu Manchu.

The next Desert Sessions will probably just be a bunch of throw-away QotSA songs.

Edit: I'm wondering why we're even discussing this in the "grunge" topic.

First heard them in the movie Collateral. I was hooked the moment I heard "Shadow on the Sun".

Oh, and I would choke a baby for a Soundgarden reunion!

A quick google search for Soundgarden blogspot should get you some nice results. I don't remember any of the site links, but a lot of these blogspots have mp3 bootlegs for download.

Anyway, right now, got a huge rush of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden B-Sides on the way. Unreleased songs, soundboard live performances. Pretty cool.

The last official Soundgarden release was in 1997. There hasn't been a single piece of SG merchandise released since then, afaik. It almost seems like an impossibility to me because been so long. Even Nirvana and AIC had releases through the recent years. I don't think any of the members are in any rush to put out a boxset, compilation, b-sides, stuff like that.

Cornell: caught up with his solo career, already working on the next album. Thayil: He talked about B-Sides 10 years ago, and I'm guessing he just lost interest. Matt: Pearl Jam. Ben: Probably just enjoying his private life. So I don't know, the chances for a re-union or even a release like this are low. But hopefully it happens.

yea man, I still have my fingers crossed though. Hopefully Cornell's 3rd album will be as good as the first one. I think that Thayill was on a Sunn O))) album.

I think I like "Leave Me Alone" the most, not on his albums but from The Cable Guy soundtrack.

Yeah, good song.

I've got a friend who's big into grunge and whatnot, introduced me to Skin Yard and Gruntruck recently. I've dug what I've heard.

Uh god I had to get out of that "Worst group ever" topic. They had the nerve to say that Nickelback sucks because "all their songs are the same" so I said that Nirvana's songs sound similar, which is one reason why I like them, because they have their own style, and they said that Nirvana sucked. That's just inexcusable. confused.gif

I think I just realized how epic Ten is by Pearl Jam. I've always liked it and listened to a few of the songs from the album every now and then but I've never really given it a good listen which I have been doing over the past week. It's f*cken incredible.

On another note, since the start of this year I've begun to listen to a lot of The Melvins. My favourite albums are (no particular order); Bullhead, Eggnog, Gluey Porch Treatments, Houdini, Ozma, Stag, Stoner Witch, A Senile Animal. Awesome band.

I know Statutory Ray is a big time fan but anybody else here like them? And if not, why?

GTFO of this topic.

they were a mediocre grunge band who had a successful album, but are only remembered today because their drug-addled lead singer shot himself. their contemporaries had released and have released material leagues better than anything Cobain wrote.

Melvins rule intensely; a wise choice. it's hard to name a favorite album just because it's all very consistently kickass. Just hugely influential, and one of the best "older" bands who still put out records.
