Rockstar confirming Length?

Recommended Posts

I was just looking at the topic called, "Game Length", and I was just wondering if anyone knows if Rockstar has confirmed anything about the game length of GTA 4. Im not looking for exact numbers, but did anyone say its going to be shorter or longer then SA, or anything like that. Please let me know.

well they did say something once... when asked if it was comparable to any movies (as VC with Scarface or SA with Boys in the Hood) they said something along the lines of that it is not made to be an homage to any specific movie. They went on to say they thought it shouldn't be viewed as a movie... but as like a TV series or saga that goes through many different subplots and stories... making me think it will be quite longish.

nope but they said it can end in different ways, so its definately a branched game, which of course SA wasn't so probably longer

Just think of a what a family tree looks like

That is news to me, I just thought that Rockstar was attempting to make missions more non-linear, not the whole story.

Do you remember where you read that? Is it in the Facts thread on this forum, if it is I must have missed it. Thats a long ass thread.

It seems every game that comes out for 360 has better graphics but much less stuff and much less apeal. For example: Madden came out on 360 and it didnt even have a franchise mode or anything like that, it was basically a huge step down from the PS2 and Xbox versions. I hope this is not the case with GTA 4.

They never said that. If they did though, give me a source.

ishouldntbehere

i think they said 'potentially' hundreds of hours of gameplay because of branching storylines (i.e. multiple playthroughs), DLC, multiplayer, plus getting the elusive 100%.

that's a lot to do.

side note: you think they will have stuff in the 100% list that will be able to be obtained only through multiplayer?

EDIT: oops. i guess multiple endings was not confirmed? well, they said there is 9 - 12 different ways to accomplish each mission, so let's pretend I said that instead.

It better not be like the crappy assassians creed, that i spent 60 bucks on that i only played once, where it was only a 15 hour game.

I almost Sh*t a brick when you compared grand theft auto to Assassins creed. icon13.gif (AC icon13.gif is the worst game i ever played, besides E.T)

It says on GTA4.net's front page -- a Rockstar rep said their testers play 4 hours a day and it takes them two weeks to finish the single-player game.

Now I dont know if this two weeks includes weekends or not. If it is just M-F, that is 4 hours x 10 days = 40+ hours at least

I think that is if you are just playing it straight. With us exploring and messing around and doing side missions, it should be similar to past GTA games. 60+ hours probably.

And now we have Multiplayer to add to those hours, so I think there is plenty to play with.

If i'm honest, from everything i've read, no one will be dissapointed with length.

Most games aim for a 6 - 7 hour story line.

There is so much to do in GTA from the storymode, side missions, Multiplayer and mini games, also there is Relationships to be upheld. That would surley keep you occupied for a great deal of time. smile.gif

There's gonna be so much to do I'm gonna have a hard time finding time to play. I'm not at all worried about how long the game will last. Even if you finish the game 100%, its GTA, and it never really gets old...

That's true.

I still play San Andreas upto this date.

Probably down to mods keeping it fresh..

I recall this as well. I wonder too if it includes all the side missions (for 100% completion).

I'm not overly concerned with the length of the game, it has been in development for 3 and a half years so all the story ideas that they came up with in that time should be great, and then once you finish the game you can do it again to listen to the different dialogue, try and do the missions differently see if anything changes smile.gif

and i will probably be on multiplayer a lot more anyway
