They can't just forget about all the characters there's gotta be at least a reference? Now that's what I'm thinking. Before I used to GTA IV would sever all ties with the GTA III trilogy, but maybe not after hearing this. I highly doubt we'll actually work for a past character, but there is a slight possibility of a cameo ( similar to Claude's in SA ) or the most likely bet, that there could be mention of a past GTA character. Libity City is alot bigger than it once was so stay alert." To me that sort of implies that Vercetti was is LC in 2003. That's just how it sounds. Ahhhhhhh I get you now. Well we will all find out when we get the game I suppose Or that after killing Sonny, Tommy went back up to LC to get himself a piece of the pie and spent the majority of his days up north. Of course, while maintaining his empire down in Vice. Then, like all bosses, the law caught up with him, Gotti style. or....... Remember the opening DVD that came with San Andreas? The Phone rang for Tommy but Tommy wasn't around. This is because he was in Liberty City! If San Andreas takes place in, what? 92? so we can say Tommy often visited or stayed in Liberty City until 2003, 11 years. see how it all ties in? this is IF this magazine is TRUE. I'd be cool if he was dead so long as he went out in a blazing glory (perhaps this case file is referring to that)... mad man Vercetti style. But I'd prefer him to be alive. I don't care if we even interact with him, I just want like a cameo or an easter egg or some reference to his fate. I just hope we don't get a mission where we have to kill the guy or something... And you have to remember that Tommy didn't start out in Vice City. He was sent there by Sonny Forrelli, who ran things "up north" meaning Liberty City, which is Tommy's original home before going to jail for the Forrelli's. It's not hard to believe that once things were tied up in VC, that Tommy returned to LC at some point, in fact as someone else pointed out, in SA, Ken Rosenberg tries to call Tommy when he gets out of rehab, though it doesn't specifically say where Tommy was when Ken called him, but it proves that he was at least still alive in 92-93. All we have is one line of dialogue which is probably just a throwaway line that bears no relation to anything else in the game. It's likely they just used the name Vercetti as a little reference for the fans. Something interesting for the old players to pick up on, but probably with no more impact than the GTAIII boxart grafitti seen in the second trailer. I'm glad they haven't cut it off completely from the last series and I'm a big fan of references, cameos and crossovers, but I think if anyone is seriously taking this as any kind of deliberate clue or evidence to Vercetti playing a role, then you may need to prepare for disappointment. Having said that, the idea of a prequel to IV set in 2003 Liberty City intriques me. Seeing Tommy as an older mob boss returning home is very appealing. Like on the police database in the police cars, abit of info from there wouldn't go down badly. As for a main character then nah i can't see it but one things for sure if he was the main villain in it, it would be the most talked about storyline ever. So he probly made destruction and chaos and he is probly in jail for it if not dead.. so the special person you are trying to look for is him to bust him out.. just like in G.T.A 3 you bust that one guy out of jail and he is a main character in the game and the character for liberty city stories. Spoiler: Catalina for surely wouldn't be in the game since GTA III took place in 2001 (if I'm right) and if you know Catalina's fate. But anyways I believe that Tommy Vercetti committed a huge crime, riot, murder, or assassination but then was caught by the police, was killed, escaped, or committed suicide to resist arrest.
