Controls in GTA IV

Sup homies? I was thinking, will Rockstar change the controls from previous GTA's onto GTA IV?

 

In my opinion, I would hate it if they changed the controls. I guess it would be hard to get used to especially for those who have been playing it for years. And I like the current controls, X is run and sprint, O is shoot, Square is jump etc. It makes the game just that little bit easier.

 

What do you think?

i'm pretty sure they'll change the gas and brake from X and [] to the right trigger and left trigger. although, i dont know, what with the aiming and shooting while driving system they just unveiled... now that I think about it, it may not be RT LT for gas and brake. but, im sure they;ll have to change it somehow.

They've no reason to change anything.

 

But since there's some new features that affect game play then there may be some slight alterations, though nothing major.

 

All the basics will remain the same.

Do you mean by left and right triggers the L2 and R2 buttons? If so, I thought using R2 to accelerate in MotorStorm was pretty cool, but I'd rather it stay X on GTA IV...

Yeh the aiming while driving troubles me. You could do it in SR but it was one of those things that you barely use and is kind of a pain. If they use the left analog for gas and break then I can see it happening but other then that it will be pretty damn rough.

the only game that did "driving while aiming" well in my opinion was true crime as it went into a slow motion cursor view, it was quite a good touch, but wouldnt suit GTA in my opinion

i had this conversation with a friend of mine and I was arguing that X would "naturally" be the gas, but then they said, 'well, all these next gen driving games use LT RT and its what many next gen gamers have come accostomed to' i'm assuming because it gives you the control of how much pressure to put on the gas. So, i think if R* is going for this ultimate next gen experience, i think LT RT will be there.

 

 

but maybe its also customizable, and maybe they even have a 'classic' control preset. who knows! (oh yeah, does...)

 

EDIT: yes, LT and RT are L2 and R2 respectively.

Yeh I know and thats what troubles me. No use being able to shoot while driving if you can barely drive. I think the chase cam might add like a auto targeting. Hopefully it does.

From reading about gta on Kikizo it seems like they have changed it...

And they said you could use the right stick aiming while driving so i guess R2 and L2 are Gas and Break

maybe it will be RT (L2) for gas and RB (L1) to shoot. then that would make R stick to steer and L stick to aim, but HOW DO YOU CONTROL THE CAMERA!? Roksatr be hertin mah breinsz!!!1!

Oh damn people, I just realised, this whole aiming while driving thing is gonna be hard. I'm most certainly gonna ride head first into a truck if I'm aiming, I can NOT multi-task on GTA. With the exception of walking whilst aiming. And why don't people say L1, L2, R1, R2 anymore?

Can't you manually assign controls? SA's PC default controls were sorta weird, but you could change them.

Not on a console you couldn't. I dont know about the Xbox, but seriously most people had San Andreas on PS2.

I was thinking this, i hope they stay the same and just add some combinations for fighting!

Kind of like mine, but switch the circle and square. I don't think I can get used to jumping with the circle button.
