Fido = Clichéd dog name Claude = Sal's lap dog It's like like Tommy saying "Get in the car, useless" to his lap dogs in a mission (can't remember the name) during Vice City. There's a large difference between saying that's his name and saying that's possibly his name. The game files simply mentioned a "default name" being Claude. Even though Rockstar was planning the name change, and though they cancelled it, they already called the protagonist 'Claude' as the default name.
