Magic_Al
There is no Ground Zero in Liberty City but it's obvious where Ground Zero would be, because the adjacent buildings are in the game. It looks like they prevented Ground Zero from existing by pushing the West Side Highway and Church Street together, removing the space in between. So there's no Ground Zero but there is a spot that's surrounded by the buildings that surround Ground Zero. A "Not Ground Zero Spot" if you want to think of it that way. It's probably just a regular street but I'm interested to go to there and see if it's really nothing. It seems weird but it's hard to resist the curiosity. (I did try to search previous posts but it's hard to find if anyone made this particular point.)

Ok here's the crazy thing though, Was just in the Downtown area of New York over last summer (to see some good friends play the MSG) The hotel I stayed in looks just like what you are pointing at in number four...take a look! So this could be basically adding more of a realistic touch to the Liberty City/New York City referencing? Maybe. I definitely think its very well done. fishermanGTA
It is a smart move not referencing 911 in anyway. 1. They don't need the heat 2. It is a VERY sensitive topic, one that has ruined 1000's of people's life's. It doesn't belong in the satirical world of GTA. I really don't think there will be anything fun or easter egg there. Vive La France
I think that It'll be an intersection, or a square or a park. No references whatsoever.
sNipPy101
off topic, but kind of on topic. after 911 happened, new yorkers have been a little scared, so0 lets say we blow something up in gtaiv, do u think the people would run around screaming terrorist? I'm pretty sure wherever you go if something blows up there'd be people running around screaming "terrorist". What's supposed to be the point of your useless post? Jimmarn
I think it's a new building that fit's into R* Storyline... that some guy maby owns it or something... Nice find tho..

Phil112
If they have anything it will be a metal plate on that street something saying something like: "Let us never forget" Or something like that.
monkeyman23555
I think they would avoid references all together, they have enough heat as it is...
Magic_Al
Ok here's the crazy thing though, Was just in the Downtown area of New York over last summer (to see some good friends play the MSG) The hotel I stayed in looks just like what you are pointing at in number four...take a look! I was actually trying to point to the empty space behind that building, between the World Financial Center (1 and 2) and the Woolworth Building (3). I doubt that other building is actually the New Yorker Hotel because that's in midtown. It's to hard tell what that other building is supposed to be. Here's a pre-9/11 picture of Lower Manhattan from the same angle as the GTA4 screenshot and I marked the same numbers. You can see how R* compressed the space. So if you stand between (1), (2), and (3) in Liberty City, that's as close to Ground Zero as you're going to get. ryuclan
They don't have to hide it, cause its not New York....It's Liberty City, there's no ground zero in Liberty City (well not yet anyway).

Correct. There is no Ground Zero in Liberty City, but the World Financial Center and the Woolworth Building are in Liberty City and you can (presumably) go stand between them. If you followed the same directions in New York, you'd be at Ground Zero.

Well technically your wrong, because the buildings go by a different name your not really standing where Ground Zero would be, your just standing between two buildings. In all actuality I guess you would be standing there if you are comparing LC to NY, but what does it matter anyway?

Lots of people around the world will play GTA4 and unfortunately never visit the real New York. People want to find landmarks and Ground Zero is the most famous one that's not there. There were lots of thread about it, so I wanted to point out an approximate location people can go to.
GTA hater
Hopefully there will be mods once more again to fix this. Like in GTA 3 *link removed* ideally with Nelson as character going *ha-ha*
