In light of the new review

this is my first topic so please dont abuse me just because I haven't analysed every frame of evey GTA game ever.

 

Now I got that out of the way...........Rockstar had an October release date that was clearly over ambitious; they had like 6 months and the are still "polishing." that much is clear. They have given a release date that is THE. LAST. possible day they could have given as a release date. Clearly they are giving the longest time to complete the game; this could be because they are concerned about meeting the deadline and there are bugs/glitches that are a cause for concern and they want to give themselves as much time as possible. So (sorry for the rambling I've been drinking heavily) the ultimate question is......would you support another delay to ensure that the finished product is perfecto or is that a bridge too far for hardcore GTA fans.

 

I know this has been kind of discussed before but now its slightly different because: WE HAVE A RELEASE DATE. Could you possibly wait any longer???

i would accept another delay

but if they are minor ones i wouldnt

I'm sure R* said they are giving a release date which they are 100% sure they will meet so no I wouldn't support another delay.

I understand what you are trying to say, but no, I personally couldn't deal with another delay, neither could many of the members on GTA forums or Rockstar themselves.

First topic and a bad topic. Dont mention the word delay and GTA IV in the same sentance. We have all been scarred by it. And April 29th is far enough. I highly doubt there are any game breaking bugs. But with a game of this size you never know what you might run into. So they gave themselves a good cushion with putting it on the 29th, just incase they run into some hidden bugs.

There is no reason for a delay given that Australia have already rated the game, fair first post though, at least you made it clear, it was a 'what if' scenario........

I don't think there will be another delay, even if they had bugs and glitches left, they could simply get rid of them through downloadable patches and updates.

Firstly, it's never gonna be "perfect" just like any other game...

 

I say if they NEED it because the game is crap, then im happy if they take it. but it looks like it's doing pretty well, so another delay just so they can tweak the hairs on Roman's head, i would be pretty upset.

I would deal with it if there was another delay, but it would definitely show how unprofessional and unprepared R* were if they had to delay their game for a year, despite telling people it would make an '07 release.

Personally I wouldn't tolerate another dalay. I didn't even want to accept the first one, but by the time it happened, I had already had the game and strategy guide on pre-order, paid in full for about 5 months, too late to get my money back. Now, by the time April 29th, comes around, I will have had it paid in full for very close to a full year. If they delayed it again, I would do my best to get my money back and bust up the place if necessary to get it, and I wouldn't be buying it later.

No...No, No, No. I couldn't deal with it. Throughout the delay I have been pressing the significance of this game and how great it's going to be to my friends. I'm not going to look like an asshole, and being laughed at because a game that I have been following since day one has failed to release in a year.

well its like this; the game is finished now all they have to do is polish it up and tag a few bugs that gives them atleast 2 and a week thy go gold three weeks out and start pressing the game any bugs that they have not fixed will be in the game until you put your game in the 360 and it says this game has an update , what that means is that they highlighted those bugs and sent the game to be pressed but still worked on the bugs and got the patch ready for as much as they can by the time you put it in your system even an update for the ps3's out there i know that they dont tell you that you need a update for the games like microsoft does but i will be checking becuase im getting the ps3 copy so they actually haqve until the day before the release date to finish up on the bugs via patch so i am not worried at all about another push anyone out there understand where im coming from

I appreciate that there will not be a further delay, the game will release on april 29 because of shareholders, broken promises, thoroughly disheartened fans (including myself...had it on pre order since last summer) but I would happily wait another couple of months if it meant a well rounded well polished game instead of releasing an unfinished product just to appease the clamouring masses. I feel it would be worth it.

Yeh I understand what you mean. They don't have to take the time out to fix the last minute minor flaws, they can use patches and updates if it came down to it.

NO, just NO. I couldn't deal with another delay, well if they did none of us could do anything about it, but then i would just go off GTA untill it actually comes out and by then i would probably be playing SR 2 (If the delay was that long).

Take2 (2K) has hit a low in the stocks (new from last summer) and this was right before BioShock was released, now im not sure how well that sold but that could've helped their financial problems. Now Rockstar is owned by 2K and I also remember hearing that it might go up for sale, meaning that either Sony or Microsoft could possibly by them, that would suck. So my guess is that Take2 is going to release it as soon as its ready. I hope the estimated releases on websites are correct, i would'nt be able to stand another delay, neither could Take2.

 

 

p.s. The whole financial thing was form summer of 07 news, i dont know how they're doin now.
