Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
As an American, I wasen't aware of this show until it was brought to US television during the past summer. I know now it aired on Channel 4 in the UK for only 6 episodes and was then cancelled because the ratings were so low, but I have fallen in love with this show, as have many others. I even sported a Darkplace sig for a quick minute. But even though it was cancelled, it has reached cult status. So much so that the guys behind the show were approached to write a script for a film. Well, I know a lot of the forum members are from across the pond, so I imagine some of you might have caught an episode or at least know what I'm talking about. I Seriously Recommend This Show, Very Funny. I enjoy English humor to a point, I'm not really a big fan of it, but this is just hilarity. Please Watch. The Hilarious Intro. Character Lucian Sanchez's "One Track Lover" Video. The may even be funnier. 9 minutes of quite possibly my favorite Darkplace episode ever, "Apes of Wrath." And thanks to good 'ol YouTube, here is the entire first episode, they have them all, of Darkplace... PART 1 PART 2 PART 3 Hope You Enjoyed. Otter
I love Darkplace. I think the one series was a great lifetime for it - it probably would have gotten old, fast, if it were to continue. Dean Lerner rules.
Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
Dean Lerner rules. I strongly second that.
Andyzoot
Hah, I really enjoyed that actually. Yes, Dean Lerner is brilliant. "I'm going to give you a knuckle supper!"
Rhoda
Love this show, I lent the DVD from my friend and was in stitches for most of it. It has a lot to do with Mighty Boosh (some recurring cast members in both shows, I think they share writers as well) but succeeds it majorly. Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
"I'm going to give you a knuckle supper!" Haha, yes, Dean Learner aka Thornton Reed is amazingly funny. In that Apes of Wrath clip, his, "You're a fool! You're a fool! You're a flipping fool!" segment brings tears to my eyes. And then his classic line afterwards on the bike, "I'm too busy staying alive..." I really wish more episodes were made.
Sauron
The only funny episode was the one with the giant testicle.
Venom
Dean Lerner is awesome; and then later Man to Man with Dean Lerner. Oh, Richard Ayoade is very funny.
JoeyLeone25
"Garth didn't ask me to act, he said he wanted the truth. So this is me, Dean Lerner, giving you the truth." Quite possibly the greatest show EVER from the 80's, too scary to show on British Television due to the inept stupidity of society at the time, it was only shown in dark-jungles of Peru until a few years ago, when this horrifically scary show, (by writer, visionary, and actor Garth Marenghi) was released to the British public like the Devil's Hounds attacking a man, and leaving him bleeding dark red blood, blood which was red, and dark, and bloody all over the place. Dean Learner: She was like a candle in the wind... unreliable. Dean Learner: If Wonton gets word of this my arse is grass and he's got a lawnmower if you know what I mean? Padre: [to Dr. Rick Dagless] You're the most sensitive man I know, and I know god. Dean Learner: Garth is the most significant artist that I've worked with and I've worked with Lulu and four other people, so were talking crème de la crème. Dr. Rick Dagless: Your son will be fine in a week, but he'll have to lay off the crack. "Something was pouring from his mouth, he examined his sleeve, blood? Blood. Crimson copper smelling blood, his blood, blood, blood, blood...and bits of sick." "Mike stared in disbelief as his hands fell off, from them rose millions of tiny maggots. Maggots, maggots, maggots, maggots, maggots...maggots. All over the floor of the Post Office." Garth Marenghi = Literary Genuis. I can honestly say I've actually sh*t my pants while reading his books, and that was from just reading the synopsis. Genius. Now who's going to get some soup, poach an egg in it and serve it up with a pork-pie sausage roll while we all talk about the greatest TV show EVER! P.S; I apologise, but the rest of the post was lost in a drink related incident in Fulham. Again, I apologise. Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
^ Those were excellent quotes you've posted, made me laugh just reading them. The Best: "Garth didn't ask me to act, he said he wanted the truth. So this is me, Dean Lerner, giving you the truth." Dean Learner: "If Wonton gets word of this my arse is grass and he's got a lawnmower if you know what I mean?" Dean Learner: "Garth is the most significant artist that I've worked with and I've worked with Lulu and four other people, so were talking crème de la crème." There are so many great one-liners in this show. It's a classic just for the fact it only lived for 6 episodes.
Crimson King
Yeah, I'd say it's probably the greatest series of all time. It was on TV here a couple of years back and I've been in love ever since.
