Lazer-
so remember in past gta games, cars would just randomly spawn on the street. and you could just turn around and then turn around again a new cars would appear? or when you create a massive wreckage, went down the block, turned the corner, and went back...it would all be gone magically? do you think gta4 will have improved on this issue? bare in mind that i do understand how technologically difficult it is to fix both of these problems. first and foremost, its much easier to spawn random vehicles in the area that your character is at much much more easily than tracking every vehicle across the city and having them all go randomly secondly, having wreckage stay in its position takes a whole lot of memory to happen. the whole game and its framerate would eventually slow down due to all the objects that it has to keep track of what are your thoughts? think rockstar put enough power in the game to alleviate some of these issues? ryan207
I think that in this game the wreckege would stay there, because when you do go inside a building, or start a mission, the car is still there when you come out, so to an extent, it will happen. They_All_Float
Man, good point. And, surprisingly... you're the first to bring it up. Of course we remember this, how couldn't someone. Just don't bother with such obvious points... The only ones that will respond are people that don't mind rehashing everything in the world of GTA, it's pointless. So yea, man...not good point. dragonrock
The consoles today should be able to keep track of cars and if one 'randomly appears' to you, that means YOU weren't tracking it.
grekster
The consoles today should be able to keep track of cars and if one 'randomly appears' to you, that means YOU weren't tracking it. According to wikipedia the population of New York City is roughly 8.2million and car ownership is roughly 25% so that means roughly 2.5million cars in NYC (not including public transport), since Liberty city isnt as big as NYC this value would be quite a over estimate to the car population in liberty city so I will quarter it, to roughly 600,000. The very least data the game would have to store per car is position, rotation velocity and acceleration and the car type (about 52 bytes of data). so thats 31.2million bytes of data, or about 30meg. Thats just for a very limited amout of data per car. Theres obviously no way the game could keep track of every car in the city like that.
