jynxy
Well actually it isn't still a country, anyways - if Kosovo is in Yougoslavia, ok - just let it go. I live in Bulgaria where the mobs are running the country. Therefor there are alot killings of politics, businessmen, rich and famous people. There was a gang of 4 croatians guys who got sued for over 10 murders. Got away though, and after that the biggest mob boss - Iliev was killed by a Croatian hitmen regarding the police. Croatian specialforces have one of te bes trainings for snipers. Albanian - could be, i don't beleive it like i don't think he's bulgarian, but as i said before- the idea of R* is to make him a mix between those Bolkan and EX - YU countires. I hope you got my point, not trying to argue with anybody you know.

pocho
Zdravo burazeru doesn't even make sense to me.. it's supposed to be "zdravo bratu", as far as I know, but whatever. We've got Bosnians and Croats and Serbs on this forum who we can ask. "burazer" is just slang for brother, cousin, even for a good friend. reading thiss discussion i just want to point out two things: 1. Yugoslavia does not exist any more, neither the "Yugoslavians" (Yugoslavians actually never existed in significant number, even during ex Yugoslavia - it was federal and in some sense artificial state, so less than 10 percent of population declared themselves as Yugoslavians. there were, and there still are: Serbs, Croats, Bosnians, Macedonians, Slovenians and Montenegrians (listed by population size, and in right spelling i hope... ) ). 2. Nlitement, i agree with most of your arguments you have listed in first page, except that "three-finger salute". we cant be sure that Niko was saluting someone in that moment, it might be accidental movement. not to mention that such "salute" is offensive towards Croats and Bosnians. i just say that captured moments and gestures could be quite misleading, check this picture (Pier Luigi Collina, famous Italian soccer refree): ...I think so because Serbians are known to have more experience and skills in warfare than Croatians. wtf? more experience, thats for sure (Serbia - Slovenia 1991., Serbia-Croatia 1991-95, Serbia-BosniaHerzegovina 1991-95, Serbia-Kosovo 1999.), but i obviously need to inform you that Croats have won the war against Serbs in Croatia. disclaimer: i dont want a flame war, i am just giving you some history facts. ishouldntbehere
Just to play devil's advocate here, some people on the forums may not know that the "three finger salute" is also just a common way of showing the number 3. I know in eastern europe they do this, and i'm sure probably half the world does the same. So, he could I guess be just asking for three beers from the bartender or 3 cookies for his mates

Jew4Life
Come to think of it guys, let's just keep him to Eastern European. That way we are all right (in a way) Maybe Rockstar never really picked a country, even. They just used a few words and characteristics from Eastern Europe, and no particular country. Also, they probably wouldn't tell even if they did give him a country

That way we are all right (in a way) Maybe Rockstar never really picked a country, even. They just used a few words and characteristics from Eastern Europe, and no particular country. Also, they probably wouldn't tell even if they did give him a country Jew4Life, the reason this topic was made wasn't to pinpoint Niko's nationality, although it was easy for this thread to turn into that. Most anyone with a lick of common sense would understand that they probably won't ever confirm where he is actually from, and it doesn't really matter. I made this topic because people are assuming he is Russian, claiming that it is definitively confirmed and even betting their house on that claim (see three posts down). We don't know where Niko is really from, but we DO know he is NOT Russian, and showing the proof for that was the whole point of this conversation. But people just don't seem to get it. I'm thinking about making a betting pool to see how many more replies it will take before the next person says, "In trailer 3, the guy says to Roman Where's your Russian friend now! So he is Russian! I am so smart! S-M-R-T!" Edited February 13, 2008 by ishouldntbehere
