ishouldntbehere Posted January 25, 2008 Share Posted January 25, 2008 (edited) All scans are from Official XBOX 360 Magazine from either April or May. scan 1: stated in the second column "Niko Bellic is an Eastern European immigrant (not Russian incidentally, although Russian gangs will feature)..." scan 2: a summary of most of the covered information in the article, and it was important enough to highlight. see the black box on the right, 3rd bullet down. scan 3: in an interview with *the* Dan Houser, he says himself, "I can't reveal gangs too much yet, but one of the things that appealed to us about a) this character (who isn't actually Russian, he's eastern European, although there will be plenty of Russian gangsters in there) and b) the story and the world, was that New York definitely feels like the world's capitol..." now can we put this rumor to rest? Okay, you know how the Simpsons live in an unknown state, but still in the US? That's where Niko's from, from an unknown country, but from Yugoslavia. Most evidence points to Serbia, but I seriously doubt that they'll ever refer to it directly, they'll jsut use something vague like "old country" or "back home" or something.
