gtamodder
Ok, yesterday my brothers computer was slow, so he had a look in and the computer was very dusty. Dust on the graphics card, all over. He cleaned it all off and now it is fine. My computer was a little slow today, and games were much smoother the other week. But they kept slowing down, so i turned off my PC, Let it cooled down, then put it on it's side, took cover off, and there was a lot of dust inside. There was a lot on my graphic card, which is a Nvidia Geforce 8500 GT 256MB. My brother took it out carefully, gave it a clean gently, then put it back in and checked if it was in properly. It was. Now there was dust by the fan (i'm sure it's that. He took it out, cleaned the dust off gently, then put it back in. He put the other part over it (i'm not sure what it is, but it goes around it) It was properly in, so he put the cover on, tightened the side parts and everything was on properly. But the problem is the computer is VERY Noisy. I pressed F2 To go to BIOS, And checked RPM. It said 3943RPM. Which i believe is too much. I don't understand why it happened because it is in properly and everything. The fan looks fine. My computer specs are 4GB RAM Nvidia Geforce 8500 GT 256MB Windows Vista Home Intel E2140 Pentium Dual Core 3.0GHZ BTW This computer i am using now is my old but it seems to run slow sometimes. Does anyone know what the problem could be?
matthew1g
Get some canned air and some isopropanol alcohol (sp?)/contact cleaner. Some dust could have got in the ports. First spray some canned air over the ports such as memory, CPU, and PCI-E slots to get any dust that might have got stuck in there, then spray contact cleaner over the slots (don't worry, contact cleaners were made for electronics so it won't short circuit anything. mine is dripping from it). Have to cleaned the connectors on the graphic card and memory with a piece of paper by the way? do that too if you haven't.. gets rid of any corrosion. Should be fine. Don't have any idea about the fan though... could have forgotten to install some fan controller (if it's not stock)?
gtamodder
There was a little dust that got stuck, my brother tried to use kitchen roll but he couldn't get in, i'll spray contact cleaner over it. My brother wasn't sure which way the fan should be put in. Via the BIOS, On XP It says you can choose how fast for PC To be (more fast the more noiser) I thought maybe thats why, put i couldn't find it on vista. My friend, who checked, said it's not a problem with PCI-E slots or anything else. Something matter with the fan. He said i need to buy a new one. Btw is it safe to leave the computer on when it is so noisy? Fan may not be in properly (that's all i can think of) EDIT: My brother think he has found the problem, the problem was there was a part of the fan that he had clipped onto, that you should NOT Do with the fan. It was for something else, and that part was powerfull, and then since the fan was clipped on that it must have game so much power. It was a little dusty earlier on, and the computer was a little slow (even though it has 4GB RAM,) And he had the same prob with his and cleaning it fixed but the fan worked a different way i think.
