Lets talk about magical weapons!

Recommended Posts

Well since it has been confirmed that there will be the good

old "magic" weapon's, where the anti-hero seems to just pull

guns out of his ass, I thought it would be good to have an educated

discussion about it.

Does this not negate all the cool new features confirmed such as duffel bags and car trunks?

Well I think it does contradict all the new (insanely) realistic features.. Of which there are so many.

It still doesnt make sense to me that they would do this, when they have euphoria especially. Then again I suppose I would be okay with it if Niko actually pulled the weapons out (in a short animation) instead of them just appearing..

yea it pretty much does...but the larger weapons probably will be held in Duffel bags like Rifles and rocket launchers

A rocket launcher? In a bag? Did you see the trailer? Not big enough.

I remember in the first preview it was said that niko walked into the house, and PULLED

out his gun, it stated that he pulled it out from his clothing.

I am not even sure if the preview (latest one) was even factual in what it said.

Why would they make this MASSIVE step down?

This says everything... tounge.gif

I think duffel bags and trunks will be useful in 2 ways:

* storing weapons that doesn't fit on Niko's ass... I mean... under his clothes, like miniguns or rocket launchers

* restoring ammunition

Why do you people who complain as much about the realism (non-existing) improvement can't understand it's matter ?

Do you really feel the need of carrying 1000 weapons together ? Isn't it too easy to switch from a pistol to a rocket launcher during a battle when the ennemies can't even have 2 different weapons ?

This new instalment was supposed to be more cinematic and realistic, to give the illusion of being into the game and this old feature will suddenly break this illusion each time we want to switch weapon.

Exactly, it just wouldnt feel real.

Now before people post "but dood itz knot ment to b reel!", IV is a hyper realistic

game, meant to draw you into the experience. Each time I change weapon its "oh thats right, its a game".

Yeah, it's what I was trying to explain in other threads. I wanted to create my own but I knew people would immediately get flamed. Anyway, yours is fine.

So this game is supposed to be next-gen but people here seem to believe this term only means better graphics confused.gif

Didn't you notice how since a few years some video games tend to get closer to the cinema ? It's thanks to games like these that the average man doesn't picture pacman anymore when he hears about VG.

A 1 second look to camera ruins a movie, so there should be rules in video games too.

Oh... and please stop spitting at realism in Grand Theft Auto. If you don't want it, it's quite simple:

JUST. KEEP. PLAYING. OLD. GTA'S !!!

I also guarentee that when newer games where comming out, there

were some people saying "I want pacman". Its just the cycle.

I don't doubt.

Well... even myself still play Prince Of Persia - The Shadow And The Flame sometimes, I must confess. tounge.gif But because it's a cool game, not because its graphics (with the exception of those cool characters moviments).

But the reason I wanna play GTA4 is a sum of everything it has: hundreds of hours of gameplay, realist graphics, characters and physics, realistic and unrealistic features, being a shoting and a driving game in the same pack, just to mention only what we know.

How do you know that Rockstar haven't tried this "realistic" way of carry guns in bags and such, and then found through play-testing that the original way is more fun?

Because it has been seen now that they are

dodging a lot of the old ways for newer, even though

at first people may see them as "more fun".

Stanley_Coleman

Actually, I wouldn't give a sh*t about it in other circumstances.

But from what I heard, R* sometimes give a look at forums and they seem to only take an interest in the majority position. It's surely why the sim time is coming back.

That really doesnt make sense.

What i meant was that maybe Rockstar have already impelented this new way of playing that you want, but the people currently playtesting the game found that it wasnt as fun as the old way, and so they have reverted back to the old (original) way. This is something that happens a lot in the industry where ideas are tested and found to be not the right design choice in the end.

Bullsh*ts... Why would it be less fun ? It's just a quick animation that we want. And I repeat myself, do you really need to carry absurd weapons everywhere and all the time ? Or are you too lazy to spend 2 second taking a duffelbag ?

Well I personally dont agree, I dont see how it would be more fun to carry everything round in a bag and i dont see how it would be more fun to be weighed down and have to move much slower just because i want to carry an rpg, a rifle, a few grenades and ammo etc. I think that would make it less fun then being able to carry whatever I want and still be able to run.

So just remove the weight thing, you're going to the extreme. I don't want to get slowed down either.

So your saying you want a magic Mary Poppins bag? Where you can put whatever you want it to it with no weight or space restrictions? So how is that "more realistic" than the normal way? And if thats the case why is the normal way such a problem, since they are now equally as unrealistic?

To me its seems you can be either realistic or unrealistic. If you want to be realistic then have the bag and suffer actually having to carry stuff around with you, be constantly weighed down, or you go the unrealistic way and have whatever weapon you want on you. You seem to want a middle route which is just hypocritical tounge.gif

The problem is mainly visual, it's why I want short animations and the duffelbag ONLY for large weapons (smaller ones in his pockets).

Anyway if I remember correctly, in past gta's you couldn't run with the rocket launcher (correct me if I'm wrong).
