No one is making you buy it. its because the majority of people on this thread are PS3 fanboys that dont want to admit it I beg to differ, I have both consoles and I love Halo 3 and I praise its multiplayer, but you can't deny it's one of the most overrated games out there. That all depends if you rely on other peoples opinions instead of your own. I can assure you friend, most people think the way I do. Having been around all sorts of forums on my free time most people seem to agree on the subject, even the most of hardcore halo fans. This in no way implies Halo 3 is a bad game, overrated? Yes, it has made some people overlook the genius of Call Of Duty's 4 multiplayer. For the sake of this topic, that's all I have to say on this, if you wish to discuss this more do it via PM. The genre just simply doesn't have the capacity to deliver an immersive and fun, awesome experience like a free roam game can (namely GTA, of course!). I thought Halo 2 was a disgrace to Halo 1, so I had no hope for Halo 3; but as the release date was like a week away, I had a look at some of the features, bought the game before college and was pretty amazed. Call of Duty 4 though, hands down one of the best games I have ever played in my life. I absolutely love Kane and Lynch too, even though that hasn't exactly had "good" feedback from the gaming world. It's highly unlikely that GTA IV will sell faster, even on 2 consoles simultaneously. Prior to Halo 3's release (and Halo 3 was a good, but much over-rated game) I believe the fastest selling videogame of all time was GTA: Vice City (EDIT: just checked and it was actually San Andreas), and that was released way back in the day. So it is possible that Rockstar will do it again, although I personally doubt it. Overall sales will go to GTA IV without a shadow of a doubt, but it won't be able to match Halo 3 for speed. Off topic: I really don't understand the hype surrounding Halo and Halo 3 in particular. At best it's a better than average FPS, and at worst, it's an unimaginative semi-sequel to a tired franchise. And yes I've played Halo 2 and 3 on both single player and multi player modes on Xbox 360 and PC (well, my Mac). I never played Halo 1 because I never had an original Xbox. I mean, did you see Guitar Hero 3? They made a billion dollars off that game, it was in the newspaper. Even though it was sold for PS2,PS3,Xbox360,PC, and Mac, imagine the potential GTA4 can do. I would like to think it too, but most ordinary people have no idea about this game at all. For example, everyone in my school knows about Halo 3, heck, the school even organised a tornament at lunchtime the day it came out. GTAIV on the other hand, isn't known by even half the people in my school. Infact, I actually walked past someone who was talking to a friend, and he was saying things like "yo i cant wait gtaiv where i can bust some niggaaz again." And stuff. People are just so misinformed. And to knock fps shooters in general because of one game, turns you into a tw*t. okies? mod it with Nitrous Oxide and chassis dyno.
