kingvercetti
(Xbox doesn't even have a HD to store this information, sorry fanboys I couldn't resist ) Then what the hell do you call this? Anyway, I don't care what caused the delay, it just goes to show that Rockstar is a good enough developer to make sure every user gets the experience that they pay for, and at the end of the day both consoles will probably end up with a nice polish because of the delay. JohnnyDrama
In before fanboys. Although I must say I find it humorous. It's a pretty big "f*ck you" to 360 owners. How the hell do you figure that? Ha, ha! I'm no fanboy, but I wonder if you even read the statement.

FelipeVinhao
do you really think it would have been ready even if it wasnt the ps3s fault? Yes. And yeah, no sh*t, of course it was because of the PS3 version. It was started on the 360, so it's bound to be behind. It depends on what you call "started on 360". If this means "they recorded the 1st disc with the game, ran on 360, recorded the 2nd disc, ran on PS3" then it makes sense. But if this means "they're making on 360 and converting to PS3", it's wrong. For the last time, games are developed on a PC, then migrated to consoles. Magic_Al
The background of this situation is Rockstar had Xbox 360 development hardware first and started working on GTA4 long before they had any PS3 hardware. This affected all game developers. The 360 is not as revolutionary a design as the PS3 and could be virtualized on stock Power Macintosh G5 boxes in the early days. PS3 developers had squat for a long time while they waited for Sony to provide prototypes. There was at least a six month lag. GTA4 wasn't true cross-platform development at first. Some amount of work was done for the 360 before the PS3 "existed", and that early work had to be ported or redone once Sony had hardware. Development on the 360 remained ahead ever since and apparently still is because they prefer to demo the 360 version even now. If Rockstar had been able to start on both platforms simultaneously they might have been able to avoid some surprises.
ceedot
Oh my gosh people, don't you see. It's obvious? The Wii is the one to blame! DESTROY ALL WII'S! P.S. People who say 'the 360 version would have been out in October', you're obviously wrong, seeing as they had problems from last year, to just recently of framerate, and draw distance. Noobs. Symbiote666
I'm loving this, I HATE fanboys, but it's brilliant to see after months of "The sh^tty 360 is holding GTA back with it's sub-par tech and small disks" from PS3 fanboys we now have "who cares about stuff like this?".. freethy
Well, I guess adding to this topic is futile, but alas... I can see how the PS3 might have helped contribute to the delay, but the simple fact is the game wasn't ready. Period. There are going to be idiots (or fanboys...man I am tired of hearing this phrase over and over again) who are gonna big up their consoles, but remember, they are kids and kids don't know sh*t. If your an adult and bickering over a console then man, you really need to get out more. Try actually sticking you dick in a girl or something normal before you all turn into Norman Bates. Brilliant There have been articles stating both ways who's to blame for the delay. It's idiotic to trust a company with unknown affiliations to either parent company. What's more, the game on both systems is now heavily polished and looking very nice. Whoever caused the delay, we're all better off for it. We all get better graphics and better frame rates as a result. Plus who knows what else they may have added in during this time. So get over yourselves with this pointless bickering. The game is coming out 04/29/08 and we should be celebrating the release together, not pointing fingers and shouting who's to blame. -Bobby Eh... this isn't going to help a f*cking thing. I just wasted more time writing this bullsh*t... And to the above poster... 'sticking you dick in a girl"... You act like talking on a forum is a non productive activity (to which I'll argue that spending time writing helps to improve your writing ability) yet sticking your shrink wrapped cock into some skanky c*nt isn't exactly going to yield anything better than an STD or an unwanted pregnancy. Sex is not the epitome of human life. Hell it's not even the epitome of human ecstasy. There are better things in this world than sex. Although you're right in saying that it's not a 360 -> PS3 port job, it's not the same for both platforms either. While the game files themselves (whatever the new model and SCM files are) will probably be 99+% the same on both platforms, the engine and core of the game will be different for each platform, because of the radically different architechtures; so it's not simply a case of making an executable for Xbox then one for PS3, the engine has to be optimized for each indivdual platform, which as many developers (like Valve for instance) would tell you, can be bloody hard for PS3. So "started on 360" would mean that (most likely due to the earlier release of the console and SDK) Rockstar started writing and optimizing their code on 360 for possibly up to a year, then the PS3 SDK gets released and a team of people has to rewrite some code here, optimize this there, and the fact that the consoles are so different probably makes that the most time consuming thing. But, regardless of this, it's the same game in the end, so any fanboy whining and bitching is unjustified. (Not pointing fingers at anyone, just stating fact.) OysterBarron
I said it all along. exspecially when they didnt show any PS3 footage at E3, But also before you start i did state that even on the 360 footage (trailer 1) it looked like an alpha version of the game with the sky not moving when the sun does, Also pedestrians actually buried upto there waist in the pavement at some points in the trailer. But you guys have to admit it seems mostly like the PS3 version was lacking behind, With no footage of it still i think it still is lagging behind. stingray.
The Rockstar representative said that the PS3 version is "identical" to the 360 version, which could also mean that it's not that good. He works for Rockstar, he wants to sell the game, obviously trying to hide something. Man, we have not seen even ONE screen of the PS3 version, which makes me damn nervous. They need to show atleast ONE shot, so that we could decide which version we want. Honestly, I must confess the only reason why I'm sticking to the PS3, is because of MGS4 and GT5, two of my all-time faves.

This has been a perfect example of how multi platform releases can go awry. Indeed. But at least Rockstar put effort into releasing a multi-platform game and work through both at the same time, as opposed to just porting one over and fixing the tidbits. I must say though, I wonder how much they will differ when it actually comes to playing it. After all we've seen nothing of PS3 version, and the demos have all been on the 360 version. Jordan
Should we be fighting over the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions? Not really. Both versions will be identical. However, the Xbox 360 version will have exclusive episodic content that cost Microsoft a confirmed sum of $50 million, so I think I'm getting pretty damned excited about what the content will be. This is a definite plus for the 360 version that cannot be denied.
