Kainc
I was using a map editor MEd v0.32 and noticed that I could create new objects in IDE section. I tried to make a "new" IDE object by using existing .dff and .txd (some pedestrian model) and I also made IPL of it (I didn't change any other values of that object beside .dff and .txd definition). Then I added the pedestrian IPL into the map and it displayed correctly. Then I saved the map and tried to load/ start new game, but game crashes every thime when the loading bar is little above the middle. I guess making a new object isn't that easy, but can someone please tell what that "lifeless pedestrian" was lacking, since it crashed the game (I make backups, so don't worry )
Shadow-Link
Think you can't place pedestrian models as static map objects because of the bones.
derty
You can, but they need to be renamed or else you have redundancy with conflicting ID numbers. Also, it will need collision data. My advice is NOT to map within mED and use it as back up or visualization... 0.32 for a reason, you know? Med is only doing very fundamental things anyway, so learning them by hand is important if you wish to mod maps anyway. If you still want to test your ped-as-static experiment out, go ahead and extract that, make a col for it.... look, just don't do that. Really, it's painfully obvious that instead of learning what you want to do first, you are just poking buttons and hoping... WHich is recipe for disaster. Read, you will thank me later -derty Edited January 24, 2008 by derty
Kainc
ok, thanks derty Yeah, it was just like U said, shooting into darkness and hoping. I was just curious since I'm not experienced modder (at least with GTA:SA). But I'll check out some tutorials and start from the basics.
