matt_hrkac
the drinking shouldent effect the ESRB rating, no need to worry there at all, just so long there is nothing like the "hot coffee" which if there is it will get an AO rating and its realece date will be pushed back again and we do not want that! Oh ok...thanks for the reply. I'm sure R* was careful with the sexual content because of the hot coffee scandal. The last thing I want is for the release to be held up by the ESRB. Speaking about the rating...if the game is "virtually complete" according to a R* rep, then the ESRB should be rating this game very soon then right? Emm Ell
Hmm..let's hope not. Although the game's been rated by the Australian board and didn't seem much of an issue. Although the game's been rated by the Australian board and didn't seem much of an issue. i don't see why the drinking feture would affect the rating in the first place. I dunno if its just me, but everyone of your post are like "Big problem" or "Real Delay" and that combined with the name makes me think that your just here to get us REAL console owners worried R* are a multi-million $(£) company and im sure that they have though all this through! Trust me when I say GTA IV is my most anticipated game of 2008, so I'm just paranoid of any problems that could cause the game not to release on schedule. GTA3Freak-2001
Well there was no fuss over the "boonshine" mission in Vice City where you drive under the influence was there? I fail to see this as being an issue, drugs and sex are the things people seem to go after in video games if anything. CookPassBabtridge
It will pass the censor boards no problem, but i imagine politician KeithVaz will be baggin on it if he gets word. He was on a rant in the commons this week about 'violent' games. Clueless idiots on the bandwagon... And not to start flaming etc, but I too am unsure why Nintendofanboy is obsessed with GTAIV failing in some way. pernunz
If anything this will discourage drink driving in real life. From what I've read its pretty hard to control a car when your drunk in gta iv. Couple this with the new wanted level system where if there's a witness the cops come after you. Imagine getting drunk in the middle of the day on a busy street driving a car. You accelerate, try to steer, end up on the footpath killing 5 people, instant 2 star (at least) wanted level. Wouldn't it be fun though trying to complete the entire game drunk though (in the game, not real life) so I'm hoping for a drunk cheat. Quote from Games Radar: CB: Mikel and I immediately thought "Rockstar's gonna catch so much sh*t over this." First Hot Coffee, now drunk driving. Personally, I think it makes driving drunk look absolutely terrifying... but how many parents will just hear about it and assume the point of the whole game is to get drunk and manslaughter innocent pedestrians (with baby strollers)? GTASIX
When I first read about this is sounds pretty fun. Staggering around, camera swaying. Niko trying to hold his balance. But if anything it just seems like they only put it in because they want to show off the euphoria. And then they go and take out something good. Like customisation. reaper x550
I don't think the ERSB should have to much of a problem with it. Look how violent the player can make the game and they still pass it, I don't think they will kick to much of a fuss over being "virtual sh*t faced". Helsinki
GTA IV is supposed to show the negative effects of driving while drunk, so I don't see the problem. Maybe schools could buy the game and demonstrate what drinking does to your driving abilities Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/308523-drunk-driving-esrb-problem/#findComment-1057433480 Share on other sites
