Runey
There isn't a topic about college hoops. Well there is now. Discuss. What team do you think has the best shot to win the national championship?
AndyGanteks
AndySerb Looks into his locker Damn i still have my old Volunteers shirt from a few years ago! I watched some games recently, but i dont know how teams stack up on the table so i dont know how to judge them now. College is much inetersting to me then NBA.More attractive and spectacular moves then the oldies do.
Rashon.
It's really hard to say. I want to say North Carolina so bad but I don't know. It's just too bad my Connecticut Huskies don't have the kind of players they used to.
TDP992
I'd put my bet on Kansas or UCLA at this point. I'd hope for Pitt, but I just strongly doubt them after already losing a few times already. We should set up some sort of GTAF Bracket Contest when March comes around. Speegz
I'd have to go with UNC or UCLA this year, Hansborough at Carolina and Love at UCLA as well as Collison and their other weapons are just too powerful for anyone to stop. Though I must say I'm already disappointed, I've given up on my Crimson Tide three games into conference play.

Attorney General
So far, I haven't seen enough of the top teams to make a decent guess. Though, from what I have seen, I think Georgetown has a legitimate shot. Hey Runey, I see you're from North Carolina. I'm not sure where Smithfield is, but I was born in Durham. Which of the big four on Tobacco Road do you pull for?

Attorney General
Nice, they have a great team this year. I know it's a sacrilege down there, but I pull for them and Duke. In a head to head game though, I go with my Blue Devils. They are playing good ball right now, but I don't think they have a shot at the championship this year. But with the two freshmans Scheyer and Singler, they have two cornerstones to recruit around for the future.
Rashon.
Ooh, look a bump. Well, Bob Knight stepped down as Texas Tech head coach. He was a memorable coach but watching the clips of Bob Knight's actions on ESPN were hilarious especially the game face one and burying him upside down. Ahem... but yeah, it was sudden since it was the middle of the season but he's coached 42 seasons and he's 67. He's tired so I think it's perfectly fine that he can leave. Attorney General
Looks like we have ourselves a game, Runey! Duke's clinging to a 42-39 lead at the half with Paulus, Scheyer and Singler banging threes like they're getting paid to do it. North Carolina is definitely missing Ty Lawson, you can see they're having trouble so far. But Hansborough's been a stud, he's having a monster game, shooting 9-13 from the field and absolutely killing Duke on the boards. This has to be the best rivalry in college basketball, because even when one of the teams looks better on paper, they always seem to play each other tough. Nice to see the ailing Dickie V back in the booth, baby!!
Runey
Well, Duke wins this one, and the trend continues of the road team taking home the win.
Jay
I was pleased that Duke won, mainly because I had money riding on it. But I always want the Tar Heels to do well. Memphis and Kansas are shaping up as well recently.
Bigs
NCAA hoops is about the only sport I care about anymore, besides high school basketball. This is a great year for Indiana basketball, we're looking to have four teams in the tourney, which is awesome. IU is my team, but I also always pull for Butler, Notre Dame, and Purdue. IU had a tough loss tonight, I think they outplayed Wisconsin, but just got unlucky. Also not good to hear about Sampson's violations, either. But I'm still hoping for a national championship this year for them HOOSIERS!
Skins
I like Vandy, but they won't make it far in the tournament. The state of Tennessee is having a hell of a year with them, UT and Memphis playing well. sysnode
Runey
You know, Coach K needs to shut the f*ck up about UNC discussing injuries. Roy Williams said it best when he said he needs to coach is own damn team, who is getting their asses beat by Miami (Not the Miami Heat, Duke would probably beat them) as I type. Duke can go suck a big fat cock. YES! MIAMI WON! Edited February 21, 2008 by Runey.

Nick Papagiorgio
So, who's going to be watching the Vols v. Memphis game this Saturday? No doubt it'll be a helluva game. As a UMD fan, Duke is of course the devil. So anything for them to lose is a good thing for me. Surprising, since that team was on a roll, up until now. Rashon.
Damn, Connecticut lost. Well, it's not like they were going to win every close game they get. You know what I like? Battles between mid-majors and Drake and Butler are giving me that right now but it the headline tonight is Tennessee and Memphis. /oddtransitions

I really have no idea or reason why, but I just feel like Memphis has been a dominant team for a while now, and UT just came around in the past two or three years. And on a side note, UCLA just looks extremely powerful this year. They remind me of the Gator team that's won the past two titles, with an incredible amount of balance. All of the starters are averaging over ten points or something like, and I believe Florida was that way too when they were winning.

ass reamer
Did anyone catch the UT vs. Vandy game last night? Pretty exciting game. UT kept the #1 ranking for a whole 28 hours haha. I've only seen Tennessee in two games and they've looked pretty spastic in both of them, is that how they always play?
Forty
Did anyone catch the UT vs. Vandy game last night? Pretty exciting game. UT kept the #1 ranking for a whole 28 hours haha. I've only seen Tennessee in two games and they've looked pretty spastic in both of them, is that how they always play? Nah they're a really solid team. It's very difficult for college teams to win back-to-back emotionally charged games on the road, and Vandy was a trap conference game for them (and not a chump team, they were #14 going into last night). Tennessee plays a lot like Texas actually. I think Texas, Memphis, Tennessee, and whoever comes out of the UNC/Duke run on top are the four #1 seeds for the tourney. Let the madness begin. Rashon.
So any thoughts on the brackets this year? The surprises for me is that since I'm a real Mid-Major guy, I was surprised Butler was only a #7 seed and the committee paired up matches between good Mid-Major teams that are at-large caliber teams (Butler vs. South Alabama, Gonzaga vs. Davidson, UNLV vs. Kent St.) I guess it means we won't see a bigger chance of those schools making it far. gta_player5
That is my bracket for this year's tournament. Some might not like it, some may say "What are you thinking?!" But to each his own opinion. PS: I apologize for the page stretching image. It's the only way I could show you my bracket and have the teams be legible. Fishman1233
I have NO idea why Butler is all the way up to a #7 seed when they are #12 in the nation. They have proven themselves this year by winning 29 games this year. They got ripped off.
ass reamer
My team got snubbed! VCU didn't get an at large bid. Despite going 24-7 (15-3 in the conference), and beating some tough teams in non-conference play. Their whole season came down to one game in the CAA tournament, when they lost to f*ckin' William and Mary, a fluke game. Meh, I'm probably the only person here who cares about VCU haha. Anyway, I'm picking UNC to win it all.
Rashon.
I have NO idea why Butler is all the way up to a #7 seed when they are #12 in the nation. They have proven themselves this year by winning 29 games this year. They got ripped off. I agree. It's insane. No love to mid-majors. The loss to Drake might've knocked them down there. Imagine if they would've lost in their conference championship. They could've probably been an 8. Lol, gta_player, your bracket is so simple with lots of top seeds winning instead of Kentucky being slipped into the Elite 8. I've got the same four teams as you picked in the Final Four but I entered in the ESPN challenge so I can't post my whole bracket here unless I want it broken into 5 pieces. The biggest upsets I only had was Winthrop over Washington St. and Saint Joseph's over Oklahoma. Edited March 18, 2008 by Rashon.

I don't expect a team like Tennessee to lose to a 15 seed, and the same goes for the other high seeded teams. I do have some upsets on that lists, like Georgia over Xavier and Purdue, Kentucky over Marquette, Stanford and Texas. Like I said, I don't see the higher seeded teams really losing to the lower seeds, though it did happen in the first round last year with Duke losing to VCU. TDP992
Good game between WVU and Duke today, looks like Duke is gonna have to make an early exit again for the second year straight. Too bad Belmont coudn't win that first game against them, I was really pulling for them. And gta_p, you came pretty close with that Georgia over Xavier pick.
