ceedot
http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=308387 The loading is just like the 'Fifa' loading. You still play while it loads. It's awesome. I doubt it will be on the main loading screen though. Edited January 24, 2008 by ceedot
C.ompton
Three successful third-person shooters came to mind while watching the action unfold. Gears of War, Rainbow Six: Vegas and Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Using cover is vital, and Niko has the ability to dive between various objects, spray blindly over the top of fallen objects, peer around corners to zoom-in on enemies and vault over props before running crouched for the next cover. If under heavy fire, he can slide baseball style into cover, maximising the time between running and being ready to shoot. Sound's cool
BlackMamba47
While jumping across town in a cab resulted in a loading screen (maybe 5 seconds), cut-scenes now seamlessly interact with the gameplay… thank God! Hmm, I believe this will definately need some clarification.

Hmm, I believe this will definately need some clarification. This preview is better than kikizo It’s not called Grand Theft Auto because you spend the game robbing mechanics; cars have and always will be integral to the series. In GTAIV and in the development of their new RAGE engine, Rockstar has clearly spent a lot of time on getting the driving experience right. Obviously there are vast visual improvements: car models look fantastic and are detailed both internally and externally despite a massive variety in options – for example, we noticed variable dashboards between cars. Damage is also fantastic, with everything from bullet holes in your windscreen and blood on your bumper to flying bonnets and shattering taillights. Smoke billows from damaged cars, changing in shade and density to go with the level of harm, and vehicles provide meaty explosions when over-cooked. It’s not quite Colin McRae: DiRT, but it’s not far off and that is saying a lot! Other nice little additions include hot-wiring animations (for those parked cars you steal), vocal GPS guidance in some fancier vehicles, and satisfying Burnout-ish motion-blur during high speeds. Microsoft paid 50 Million, not billion. 2. The PS3 is finished, they said in the IGN preview(I think), and they will play it in 1 month. 3. The versions will look very much the same. PS3 may have SIXAXIS, and 360 has DLC.
ilya
I thought there was no loading after the initial load? Well, as we know, they said there's no loading while transitioning between in/exteriors. And they also basically stated that one can play through the 'game' without any loading screens. With that, they were probably referring to the storyline, alone. It could be that you don't necessarily have to ever use cabs at all, so that statement is still good in a way, I guess. Honestly though, there'll probably be a short loading sequence here and there, for certain (optional) things. But seeing as how missions, specifically cutscenes, apparently stream seamlessly, that's just plain awesome. It's a big evolution, still. Edited January 24, 2008 by Supreme. Mike0
HUD In the pursuit of fully immersive experiences, developers have been minimising or completely removing any sort of heads-up display in this generation of gaming and gamers will notice some minor tweaks in GTAIV too. The now iconic circular map remains firmly fixed to the southwest corner of your screen. With the flick of a button you can zoom out to the world map, select your destination and activate a GPS guidance system that will show you the best route to your destination. Other useful bits and pieces will fade in-and-out of your display when selected. Choosing a radio station causes a Rolodex of logos to appear at the top of the screen that you can scroll between: it fades away following use. The same goes for your weapon selections, with a small icon appearing in the northeast corner as you scroll through your arsenal. Every street in the game also appears to be named, and will flash up on the southeast corner of your screen as you weave in and out of the city’s streets – we were focusing on other things most of the time, but we’re sure Rockstar’s timeless sense of humour will eke into the monikers here, too.
