reaper x550
How more options how better, sad thing to read that you wont be able to dive.. But are you able to swim like what happends when you fell into the water? Do you get like transported back to land or something like in Saints Row, push a button to get back on land. I assume you would be able to swim around freely, just not dive under the water.

gtathebest4ever
What about when your car goes in the water? What happens? Do you die? Does it auto get out for you? What happens with that? well, i guess if you stay in the car for some time, niko will die, but if you exit the car as it's sinking, niko just swims to the surface, and cant go back again. mcgriz
It was fun to hide underwater from cops, but I wont miss it.
FelipeVinhao
I though diving in SA was kind of (kind of!) fun, but I don't miss it so much in GTA4. First, they added many things that GTASA didn't have. Then, diving (not swimming) was useful in only one mission, and to collect oysters. So, if you don't have to collect oysters you don't need to dive - you even couldn't, if it's really a New York replica . GTASA was good because for the 1st time you didn't drown instantly when falling on the water (the shark excuse in GTAVC was the worst). You can swim. It's enough. This was well used in GTASA and can be well used again in GTA4.

CookPassBabtridge
Not sure if I beleive that article, its not like diving wasnt optional, like all the other features, so why suddenly drop it? Unless the next gen water effects make it tricky to get it to work smoothly
Capricornus
Meh. This is definitely not something to cry over.
Nabbesnabb
I didn't really find swimming underwater very useful in SA. I could get away from the cops easier by just swimming fast away on the surface and watch them follow me down in the water and drown, stupid as they were. If I swim underwater, it still wouldn't save me from the choppers, which could shoot me no matter how deep in the water I was, and the deeper I went, the more was the chance of me drowning. Coolest thing was just to jump from high ledge or out of a plane and plunge deep in the water. I'm sure it's still possible to get underwater that way in GTA IV, by jumping from a height, but you probably will automaticly return to surface. I'm guessing the view underwater is pretty dark anyway, so not much to see.
Ak4tsevEn
What about when your car goes in the water? What happens? Do you die? Does it auto get out for you? What happens with that? niko will most probably get out automatically once the car is in the water, it happend in saints row so probably the same idea here. Oblivionz
What if your car falls into the water? Will it just float on the surface of the water unrealistically? Or will you die like in GTA3, VC, and LCS? You can still swim, but you just can't go underwater anymore. I think it's good, it's saving disk space for things that are much better than underwater landscape. He'll probably just automatically get out like when you go underwater. balil2006
getting upset about not being able to swim underwater is like getting upset that a rubber band ball you bought was made from 149 rubber bands when it CLEARLY stated that it was made from 150. this game has so many layers why you worrying about one? and a poor one at that? you can get wasted. more than makes up for. Randomhero157
Rockstar are starting to cut out all the stuff that made San Andreas kick ass, which is a shame. Not really. San Andreas had way to much pointless stuff. Diving under water was dumb and pointless. You guys are acting like it is a big deal when it is not. Go play Bioshock if you want to go under water. GTA is not about the water it is about the city.
OysterBarron
Goin underwater was cool, but it was kinda pointless. All u needed it for was that mission in San Fierro, and gettin all them annoying oysters. Like someone said earlier, it saves disk space, im sure people will forget about it as soon as they play the game. HEY leave the oysters alone man, This is dissapointing i was looking foward to living upto my name again DOH lol
axxxis
Diving was just a feature that gave a little more freedom, but it was pretty useless. But what happens if you accidentaly fall into the water? I don't want it to be like in VC that you die as soon as you touch the water. But i am pretty confident that R* will fix this. No need to worry mates.
redemption10
i would rather have it than not have it but it wont make or break this game
