Slamman
This is just a query about that Special Someone again and after reading the full report, to suggest that things we are very familiar with in GTA and by some non-GTA fanatics may seem like boring game traits... appear as 'story' in the descriptive reviews but in reality during game play, I can see them being much like previous elements.... in the case I present, dating with girls is an option, but seems still very much a function of making and keeping friends, so I wonder do you feel it will be as much of a pain? Since there are only partial time keeping events in the game, will making appointments and keeping them be more like a day or two in game and more dependant on a time of day? It seems to be that way to me. There is also the lingering question of That Special Someone... I think it's being kept in the dark for players to uncover at the very end of Niko's journey. OR do you think we'll know much more earlier, either from R or as the story unfolds? -Bill BTW, BlueSpot is surely famous now, good going on that front!! Congrats!! Darrel
I think we will find that 'special someone' either early on or perhaps half way through. As for keeping appointments and such it does seem a pain in writing, but I'm really actually looking forward to it. I can see myself canceling a lot of meeting and dates etc. I wont miss getting pissed with Roman though. that sounds like a whole lot of fun. creamy_goodness
I like milk and apples To any of the mods - I'm not real familiar with the rules around here, so can somebody tell me - if I were to reply to the quoted post with "I like when kids like you are aborted", would that get me in trouble, or are we free to say what we want? @ Slamman, I think we'll find out who the "special someone" is early in the story. Wow, I'm speechless...You are 24, you live in your friends parents basement? I am correct yes? Dip sh*t

T.I.P.
Wow, I'm speechless...You are 24, you live in your friends parents basement? I am correct yes? Dip sh*t Forgive me, it was a little harsh. I just haven't seen anything but stupidity from you, but let's not ruin this topic. Slamman, I don't think they've been found yet, but I think they'll make it clear who you're looking for early on. That's my guess anyway.
Slamman
Yes, I didn't ask for an uncivil flamefest, much less one that makes no real sense. I had started by suggesting practices used in the missions sound like familar ways and means from past GTAs that some regular Joe gamers might wind up accusing the franchise as stale and boring. We see alot of the same type of mission oibjectives driving the storylines with new toys thrown in. I went away from that with other thoughts, but to keep things interesting, that's one impression I take away as well. I think it sounds like the Special Someone is not mentioned out loud even towards that last mission, but we don't know what information he's presented along the skipped time frames of the demos, so it is possible we know as we play Niko who that person is. Sabin8
I think somewhere in one of the previews today I read that they referred to the "special someone" as him. My guess, Niko is looking for his father. His cousin, Roman, probably knows some things since they are related and thats why Niko goes to Roman, besides that maybe thats the only person he knows in the US. And maybe Niko has some unfinished business to take care with his father, as in his dad killed his mom and Niko wants revenge.
Slamman
I can't see it being his father, but I also wouldn't assume Googling it will point out who it is. If people without insight are only speculating... either way, it has had me wondering. It sounds like getting 'wasted', drunk, etc... just like the Boomshine mission with Phil but doesn't sound like it lasts long enough to get you in trouble with the cops, per se. I think there's still question of how many people will be calling you or will have 'friends' AND missions open where the phone in meets will be problematic, in terms of having to balance out the order in a short time frame accounting for various locations one has to traverse as well while doing that. mcgriz
There's so little sense going on in this topic it's just insane. Personally I think you'll find out who the special someone is near the end of the game, with a little bit of story left to play it out once you know who they are. Slamman
Made sense before you misinterpreted it... Are you sure you read it slowly? I agree that That Special Someone is one of the key plot devices, the page turner that keeps you moving the plot along to find the answer....even though you should know as Niko! voteneg
I think the someone special if it is a guy is someone who screwed him over in the past. He's out for blood.
Slamman
From what we've seen it plays a lot heavier on Niko mind / agenda, then the following Roman to a life of ease living 'the American Dream', which, BTW, I wish I could as well!! Anyway, I also felt I'd cover other aspects of the preview with this thread, as I felt about them and that's where some confusion resulted I think
