SovietWarrior42
I bought the Steam version of SA for MTA, but I don't know how to downgrade it. Do you guys have any hints or am I just SOL? Runey
What is "steam version", unless you're referring to the second edition of the game. If you indeed are talking about the game's second edition, just simply download a downgrader, which can be found by searching on Google, since I don't think I am allowed to post links to downgraders. If not, I have no idea. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/308349-anyway-to-downgrade-sa-steam/#findComment-1057429304 Share on other sites
pdescobar
Steam is one of the two providers of downloadable games that you can buy GTA through. (Direct2Drive is the other.) The downloadable versions of SA are version 3 although some aspects are very similar to version 2. The "downgrader" only supports version 2 currently. If the Steam version has a similar file & directory layout to the original game then acquiring a "cracked" v1 exe somehow (no hints here) might allow you to play samp/mta. However, if the data files are significantly different, then you may be SOL as far as multiplayer is concerned. Berkley
If I were you, I'd buy it from shop, not to play via Steam, and I did like that, in fact I don't have steam account. TenaciousD.
Steam works differently to normal, buy from a shop SA. It contains all the files except the gta_sa.exe (which is what is replaced in downgrading) so you cannot dowgrade the steam version of SA. J-Fox
Since you got the game files on your hard-disk I can't see any bigger problem - Even if it didn't come with a gta_sa.exe it should work as far the file and directory structures didnt change. //Edit: GTA isn't available via steam yet it says when I look for GTA in steam. Obsidianlycan
I have Steam version 3.0 of SA. I replaced the .exe in Steam>Steamapps>Common>Grand theft auto san andreas with a no-cd crack for version 1.0....and it loads, and SAAC 1.2 works. I played it for about 5 minutes, and the game seems to run ok p.s- I BOUGHT the game on steam as part of the Rockstar Collection for £30 last week, such a bargain!
