codax
Ok, i saw rage against the machine live on friday, and it was f*cking intense. yet it left me with a big question. I hold some very strong political views, yet i have no idea what school of thought they fall into. I shall post a brief overview of my views, and i hope some people will be able to help me classify them. Firstly, i believe the government should have a limited control over society. they should be in charge of healthcare, education (to an extent) and the general maintenance of infrastructure. I believe laws that are there for the great benefit of the people (murder is bad, etcetera) are good, however i believe the drug laws are a breech of free will (ESPECIALLY marijuana) and should not exist. If, for example, a person wants to grow plants for recreational purposes (dealing=bad), that is fine. I agree with war, if it is for the definitive greater good of the nation or its allies. The invasive army should be replaced with a territorial defense force. I do not agree with the dole. I believe if an able bodied person does not work because they chose not to work, they should be drafted into the defense force. This gives them a career, and teaches them values they may otherwise not learn. I think, even if they do not see combat, conscription will change their lives for the better. Finally, i completely disagree with the use of the media to brainwash, such as the propoganda campaign against marijuana. I do no agree with complete abholishment of the government, just a...downsizing. So, can anybody help me?
jaymig53
Well, i'm not sure exactly what the question is here. But it sounds like you're a bit left-wing, when it comes to politics.
codax
I want to know what school of thought my political views fall into (anarchism, utilitarianism), so i can hopefully join an association of likeminded people. I read up on consequentialist liberationalism, but some of there ideals seemed too right-wing.

makeshyft
There is a test you can do online here. Not having taken it I can't vouch for its accuracy, but it's worth a shot.
jelly
If you think a government in control of health care and education is 'limited'.. You need a dictionary. Also, why are drug laws a breech of free will while involuntary military service to the state isn't? Right now it seems your views are pretty mainstream apart from being more liberal on the drug issue and more fascist on the military service issue. Those two really contradict themselves, if you ask me.
jimmy.
Libertarian fascist? No, seriously, I can't think of how to classify your views too well, since they're somewhat contradictory as jallar said. I'm surprised you think that aid to the poor is unnecessary, yet the government should subsidize healthcare and education. Like was also said, I'm surprised you think that drug laws are an infringement on personal liberties while conscription of those who do not work is fine by you. Your views do seem pretty mainstream, aside from the total drug legalization thing.
