Ottae
I say we put a poll, and vote for the PGC's return, eh? . Never gonna happen. Well, not any time soon. The Multiplayer forum has taken over what the PGC was originally all about, so really, that's the new PGC.

thatsoccerguy
I had always hoped the PGC might come back, if the staff decided it was worth it. Give it a month-long test run and block members that haven't been here for more than 6 months or something....
cold fusion 33
Err what is a PGC? From what I can gather it is Teh Pit without all the spam... Am I correct? I agree gen-chat has really gone to hell... I don't think it is going to come out any time soon .
Woody510
Wow, i can't believe it but i actually remember you.(Tsuroki) But i can't stress the fact that you sir, are correct, enough. There was a time when I'd spend a solid 4-5 hours a day just commenting back and forth with people on subject matter that was actually originial and interesting, not just giving advice to prepubecent Jack Dawson wannabes and discussing whatever faux-new's Yahoo's front page happend to sh*t out on any given day. It felt more like I knew people. Even if i hated someone i hated them passionately. Now if someone pisses me off I'm more inclined to leave the forum than debate with them. It's as if the general intellect and effort behind posts has degraded. To me I think it has something to do with the lack of content that's specific to the forums. There was a time when you could have made a small dictionary of terms we used around here (not to say they weren't possibly used on other forums ) but at least we had some degree of originality. So to all of you who joined after 06', impress me. Oh, and here's a picture of Swayze in drag Edited January 20, 2008 by Woody510

Tsuroki
Holy sh*t. I didn't think this topic would still be here when I woke up, I thought it'd just be a figment of imagination, I thought I had been smoking crack last night and posted nothing. Hell, I'm still tired - I'm half asleep and hallucinating, jesus christ, the trees are talking to me. Now I have to go through this damn thread and address every single post that I need to f*cking address. Damn it. You were cooler when your name was Tsuroki. Yeah, but your mom had a hard time pronouncing it while I took her to paradise with the force of a thousand chinchillas. Welcome back Andy. You get your 360 yet? I'm up for some thrashing in Halo 3 and what not. No 360 til' the spring, my good sir. I don't have the "monies" to go out and buy one, y'see. I'd be broke, y'see. So I'm stuck tooling away on PC games til' then. You can just begin by telling us what Gen. Chat is about. I know all the news topics suck, but I sincerely don't know what you guys used to call "entertaining". On all the other forums I go to, the same happens. Gen. Chat is about random bullsh*t, but it ain't so much about *what* people post, it's *how* they post. Everyone has/had a distinct style, you knew who people were... Gen Chat is a frat house. There's a sense of community that has gone out the goddamned window over the past few years; is it 'cuz PGC is gone? Maybe it's because we've become a place of mass generalisms (kinda like GameFAQs). Who knows. I dare say Andy's on to something. Even if he does end up working at TBWA. FYI, I had to google that name to figure out WTF you were talking about. Now that I have, I realize I fail. Boo at you, good sir. The only change now is you're 6 years older, and can see it for the festering pile of sh*t gen chat really is. STOP CRUSHING MY DREAMS you ASSHAT! Fine, I admit, General Chat was always suckage, but at least back then you could keep track of who was f*ckin' who. Not to mention that the boards were dripping with sarcasm back then, too. It was more like the SA forums. Or something. 2003-2005 was a time in which members knew each other, not always personally, but knew each other nonetheless. Nowadays, this place has become dwarfed with members whom I do not know and therefore are unable to relate to. This is a disincentive for any contributions from my side and therefore my current attitude is 'Bleh, I'm not even going to bother'. ^^^^^^^^ Sorry dat I've joined the nüübs who f*cked GC... More porn, less sh*t. BODILY HARM! Translation = ENRAAAAGED.
Bartleby
It seems to me the more people you have, the bigger the problem gets. I think it's just a result of becoming a bigger forum over the years. More people, which means more idiots, and as the numbers get higher, it also becomes more and more impersonal all the time. There's just too many damn people.
cold fusion 33
Well if I am right about what I think PGC was, then I am al up for opening it up again. Teh Pit failed because of just too much spam. A forum that simply doesn't allow 08ers, 07er's or dare I say it 06er's would be perfect.

I suggest we set up a series of suicide booths, put up a sign that says "FREE COPIES OF GTA IV INSIDE", and watch the results. Too obvious. Maybe a few tiger pits dotted here and there with a "GTA IV" box sitting in the middle. What we really need is eggbot firing the railgun into the treeline. Cubanwhip
Waaaay to obvious. Trail of GTA 4 boxart's leading to a pit where a plasma TV and couch sit in the middle. Unbeknowest to them, the couch is really made of C4 and we detonate it at our will.

Forty
In some ways you could argue that, since this is the internet, that none of our interactions mean anything in a true life sense. You could then take that statement and apply it to everyone who has left without saying goodbye. They might defend their actions with the same argument, or say that they don't care because "it's just the internet". Well, some of you people are actually my friends. Contrary to 2001, this isn't "just the internet" anymore. The world cannot continue living under the naive belief that the countless hours and days we spend on the internet mean nothing at all beyond mild entertainment. No one posts 1,000s of times on the same website over the course of years without it having some effect on them, or without gaining a few new friendships. The hackneyed position that you're a loser for feeling that the people you've spent five plus years interacting with are not people or friends, but other internet losers, is bogus and ignorant. If we didn't give a sh*t, none of us would keep posting/browsing here. There are plenty of other sites. So my point is that those of you, older members primarily, who pack up and leave the site/forum/gang/IRC without saying a goddamn word are f*cking jackasses. In some ways we have no way to contact you, and if someone were to pass away or fall deathly ill, none of us would know. We're real people too, and what happened to Shane should be a lesson to us all that you shouldn't be so careless with those who consider you a friend. Not seeing their face doesn't lessen their reality.

Not seeing their face doesn't lessen their reality. deep. But also very true. The virtual nature of meeting someone or talking to someone over the internet is a new phenomenom however it just represents a shift in society. A person on the internet is no less human than your family however because we never 'meet' them per se it can often feel that these people are distant and alien to us. However if we can get along with someone and like someone on the internet who we never meet in person then this can often mean that you have alot in common and you can build a good friendship becuase it means you are talking to them on the same level without having to adapt your personaliy or beliefs to conform with the social strata you are often in when meeting someone in the real world.
