Liberty2k7
In no particular order. Porcupine Tree Rush Fugazi Iron Maiden Explosions in the Sky Mogwai Godspeed You! Black Emperor Frank Zappa Mammatus Boris (the Heavy Rocks and Pink albums) Melt Banana (once you get over the vocals the music is awesome) Mammatus Sleep 3 and Coheed and Cambria Aereogramme Bruce Dickinson The Mars Volta f*ck, someone else on the forum likes EITS! To OP Check out At the Drive-In, and The Mars Volta(very similar as 2 members were in both bands), dunno if its your style but you could try listening to The Fall of Troy, they are similar in ways aswell. Listen to Minus the Bear, Interpol, God is an Astronaut....and Muse and Radiohead are always safe bets, if you're not one of the people who doesn't like falsetto vocals. Trows
Clutch - heavy blues-rock, slight metal/hardcore punk influences, less obvious in later recordings Anybody who ignores this deserves to have their ears chopped off by a LEGO hatchet. No dough this post will get questions and and maybe even some fighting.

Speaking of huge corporations cutting ears off... The new Company Band is out, and officially awesome. Only 4 songs, but you can't complain when it's 4 tracks of Neil Fallon lulling you to sleep with his gentle swan's song.
Blind Joe Death
Thanks for the recommendations guys, it's helped me out a lot. I already have music from some of the bands that were recommended but there's certainly a lot of new bands that I've never heard of so I will give them a listen. I'm really loving Queens Of The Stone Age and The Melvins. They're awesome.
Timpo
but what kind of music genre in rock do you like particularly? classic (blues) rock/metal (like Mötley Crüe, The Cult, Guns N' Roses, aerosmith, pantera) grunge (like Pearl Jam , soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Mother Love Bone) mainstream rock punk, punk rock or more modern rock/alternative? don't know where to put RATM:P it came from the grunge period, but it's not really grunge. well.. like some others said, you could check out Audioslave if you like the guitar riffs of RATM. or anything I forget here.. this was just everything that popped into my head:P I also like Toto very much. and Wolfmother is nice. you could also check out Silvertide, King's X, Incubus, Muse, Megadeth, Metallica, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Scorpions, Tenacious D, en Velvet Revolver is nice too. djokareff
I suggest Jimi Hendrix. No one plays better than him. And his music is freakin great. Also, Led Zeppelin (of course), Black Sabbath (try listening to planet caravan when you're high ) The Doors, Deep Purple, etc. The 60's and the 70's are the best years of rock. 16 Roses
f*ck, someone else on the forum likes EITS! hehe, and me I have their discog - brilliant stuff. But, I don't see how it classifies as rock? It's Ambient/post-rock (which isn't at all like rock)
