Ring_of_Fire
How do you make Windows always remember the last CPU priority or affinity settings of a process without having to change it everytime an application is launched? I need to do this because my Realtek AC'97 onboard sound card drivers on Vista is messing up games, and causes the mouse to freeze. Such programs that freeze are GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas, and MTA: Vice City when compatibility mode is turned off. NOTE: If you don't know the answer, please say "I don't know the answer" or "There's is no way that's possible" instead of just disappearing from the topic and not keeping the thread starter informed. Picolini
NOTE: If you don't know the answer, please say "I don't know the answer" or "There's is no way that's possible" instead of just disappearing from the topic and not keeping the thread starter informed. Why? If we knew something we'd say it. If we don't say anything, obviously we can't or don't want to help.
Ring_of_Fire
Why? If we knew something we'd say it. Key word = IF. I said if you know the answer, say it out. If you don't know the answer then: please say "I don't know the answer" or "There's is no way that's possible"
Picolini
That didn't do anything but reiterate what you originally said. My point is, why say "I don't know" if we don't know it? It won't change anything. We still don't know, it doesn't help solve your problem.
Ring_of_Fire
I want the thread to get some attention at least. Normally people don't reply to a post with no helpers. Anyway forget about saying "I don't know" and say instead "That's not possible" if of course there isn't really a way to allow Windows to remember the last CPU priority/affinity setting used for a .exe process. EDIT: Ah crap, pretend that I never written the "NOTE:" above Edited January 20, 2008 by Ring_of_Fire
GTA3Freak-2001
Its not like your topic is going to fall off the page and be forgotten especially in this forum which doesn't see that much traffic so I don't see your tactic as being necessary. When someone knows the answer or some sort of advice they will post, anyway you've so far got 2 useless posts for your "attention boosting". I don't know........ Jevon
Are you certain of which process it is? Have you tried checking for updated drivers? Realtek's Vista support has put most other companies (e.g. Creative, who last released a broken driver 10 months ago for my Audigy) to shame. Failing that, the driver itself wouldn't have a process per-se, if it's the task bar app thing just exit it and stop it running at start-up. Svip
I don't know the answer Ring_of_Fire is an obvious idiot. Which I hope most of you have noticed by now. Just because he says he want you to clutter up the topic with "I don't know" posts, doesn't mean you should do it. In fact, such posts are considered spam as they do not give anything valuable to the topic at hand. Regardless of what the topic starter says. Ring_of_Fire
Ring_of_Fire is an obvious idiot. I said to just ignore it damnit - I made a mistake and I did edit my post. http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtop...st&p=1057420446 You could have just closed the thread since it's most likely nobody will know the answer. I created this thread because I thought it would be impossible for Windows Task Manager to allow the user to accomplish something like that and so this is why I asked, because I needed "help". And it's also because sometimes people know the answer, but they never like to tell the thread starter because they want to always make them feel left-behind. Since I can't really tolerate that utter stupidity, I tried to encourage them to post by saying this: NOTE: If you don't know the answer, please say "I don't know the answer" or "There's is no way that's possible" instead of just disappearing from the topic and not keeping the thread starter informed. I have no problems with sound in all my games. It's something to do with the sound driver as if I disabled it in Device Manager, it works. This didn't happen in XP, but happens on Vista. Yes drivers are up-to-date and it seems that this bug in the Realtek sound drivers effect old games like San Andreas and Vice City, especially when they use something called a [.set] file. Notice how I have no problems running newer games and any other older game for that matter which wasn't made by Rockstar (R*) Well, I seem to have found the answer http://xona.com/2004/07/22.html Edited January 20, 2008 by Ring_of_Fire
