2 Fire trucks

I was at the old Xoomer gas station you get in SF and I got bored so I went to the Fire station next door and found a fire truck. There was something weird about it though. It had a ladder, no missions and no Sirens or light that would work. This was on the PS2 version. I went and saved it in my garage then I went back to the station and there was a normal fire truck there with working everything. I took both out and they both were called fire Truck and only the normal one could do anything. hAs anyone ever heard of this before?

There are 2 fire trucks in San Andreas. As you have said the one is a ladder truck and you can do nothing with it except drive it. The other is a pumper truck which you can use to do the firefighting missions and you can use the seirins on this one.

These are in all the games reguardless of the platform.

Please use search next time. It would have easyey answered your question. wink.gif

The one with the ladder was supposedly to feature in End Of The Line in which Tenpenny drives and crashes

It somehow spawns at the SF Fire Station instead of the regular one.

Shame it's only used there, and not even by CJ.

I've always disliked the R3 missions, since they're so repetitive, it would've been cool if an addition to the firefighter mission was putting out fires in apartment buildings, and CJ had to climb up the ladder with a fire extinguisher smile.gif

R3 is the button that is used to trigger vehicle-based odd job missions (Paramedic, Firefighter, Vigilante, etc) on the PS2 version and is also part of the name of the thread that controls those missions if you look at the decompiled code. Over the years, the term "R3 missions" has become synonymous with these missions even if only some of the platforms actually have an R3 button. I often use it myself even though I don't own a PS2. tounge.gif

There are two parked vehicle generators at the SF firehouse: one for the water-cannon firetruck and one for the ladder firetruck. They are close together in the unmodified game, however, so only one will spawn at a time. To increase your chances of getting the ladder truck to appear, approach the firehouse from the south.

CJ's inability to use ladders was the most annoying limitation of the game (sure to be corrected in GTA4). It was unfortunate the firetruck ladder didn't work. CJ could have run up the ladder as a ramp at least.
