FEAR, Agent Orange, DI and Total Chaos are playin' here August 4th. Good sh*t. Bands like FEAR rarely play outside of So-Cal nowadays, much less come to Virginia.

Does anyone remember Scratch Acid they morphed into The Jesus Lizard

Never heard of them, do you have any links?

I had a friend sending me song after song of "unknown" crust/anarcho bands earlier today (even though one of those bands was Nausea, not very "unknown" to be honest). I found a pretty interesting band amongst the piles by the name of Burning Kitchen. Can't find a MySpace or anything for them though. sad.gif

EDIT: I managed to find their last.fm account. Though they only have two songs on there available for listening. sad.gif

No afraid not I have never looked but I would be surprised if they had a web page they were from the early eighties, thier claim to fame was Kurt Cobain cited them as an influence, but they don't sound f*ck all like Nirvana but I think he used to just say bands he liked like Flipper and Gang of Four and call them an influence in the broadest possible sense, they are a little bit like Dead Kennedys, most people I have played them to hated them.

I would say I envy you, but then I remembered I'm going to Rebellion festival two days after that. lol.gif That's not to say it isn't a kick-ass show though! West Coast Hardcore is awesome. I'm seeing Adolescents at Rebellion, which should be good.

Hmm, I've been planning some up and coming gigs, post Rebellion. I've got Stiff Little Fingers in Liverpool in October, should be f*ckign awesome, that will be my third time to see them, Goldblade are playing in Manchester, I heard they're brilliant. Sham 69 are also playing in Manchester, not sure what it will be like without Pursey, but I'll go as I love Sham 69.

There aren't many punk venues in Warrington/St Helens, it sucks. cryani.gif

Stza is doing his own set? Is it going to be his acoustic sh*t?

He's playing on the Almost Acoustic stage, so yeah. I'm not sure what his acoustic stuff is like though my friend says it is sh*t. Either way though I've got some time to waste and what better way to waste it then listening to some guy, probably high on crack, ranting about the government via an acoustic guitar? tounge.gif

Acoustic as in singer-songwriter kind of stuff? If so I pretty much hate that sh*t across the board.

I didn't go see Leftover Crack last Friday, unfortunately, as I wasn't in town. Did you go, Toymachine?

I think this is the sort of thing I can expect at his acoustic set:

To be honest, he sounds like blink-182 during most of that. His vocals aren't that good when he isn't screaming or shouting.

I bought that new NoFx album the other day; Coasters, it wasn't half as good as any older stuff. I randomly bought The Beat - You just cant beat it (The Best of) today, it was two for a tenner so I decided to get London calling too, as my old one was scratched to hell. Well it is 10 years old suicidal.gif

Yeah, NoFx, used to be great, if you like a band you go out and buy an album nonetheless.

I guess some of the songs are pretty good though, Im going to have another listen. icon14.gif

Thinking about going to the Warped Tour. $36.50 gets you to see like 60 bands including Anti-Flag, Bad Religion, Flogging Molly and much more.

I wouldn't pay that much to goto Warped Tour, to be honest. The amount of good bands you get to see compared to the sh*t they put on the bill and claim to be punk is just ludicrous.

Agreed. Of the bands that are playing (I just checked out the line-up), the only things that would be worth seeing are DOA, Bad Religion and maybe Anti-Flag, depending on which songs those bands play.

The Warped tour used to be awesome, now, for some reason, it has turned to an emo fest. Bands like Aiden, you me at six & Madina lake are there, thats just an insult, not to mention that Attack Attack & A day to remember are there suicidal.gif

Damn, there are some good bands there though, Adolescents, Bouncing souls, NoFx, The Adicts & UK subs. Thats just to mention a few.

I might go to that Eastpak antidote tour.

I'd go just to see the awesome bands, $36.50 is definitely worth it imo.

My dad recommended i give a listen to bad religion as i only had heard one song before and yeah these guys are good. He went on to show me a bunch off other great punk bands, Odd as my father listens to thrash metal and such, cool to know he knows his bit about punk too.

3/5 of those bands (Adolescents, Adicts, UK Subs) are playing at Rebellion anyway. For that little bit extra you can see all those bands plus about 150 other great bands, over 3 days instead of one. God I love being English. tounge.gif

Warped Tour is only worth the money if you can make the So-Cal dates. Across the rest of the country, the line-up is pretty sh*tty. That being said, I am going to Warped Tour this year. I'm taking my little brother because my mom offered to pay for the tickets and a night in a hotel on the beach. I figure hitting on 16 year old scene and emo girls for a day won't be too bad. They'll think I'm cool because I can buy them cigarettes.

Ah, the innocence of youth.

I've got nothing much to report other than the fact that I love DIRT. I bought their compilation album "Black & White" the other day and have been listening to it every now and again since. Deno's vocals are so harsh and brilliant. They're lyrics are really down to earth and to the point too - no messing about with clever metaphors and poetic justice. tounge.gif

Warped Tour

I've been reading heaps of sh*t about Warped Tour on good ol' wikipedia.org;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warped_Tour

Check out the 'Criticism and controversy', who says punk rawx isn't dead.

•According to Fat Mike, on the 2006 tour, From First to Last was upset about not being able to play before 2:00pm on the main stage, and refused to play if they were not guaranteed that. From First to Last stated they left the tour due to vocalist Sonny Moore having nodes on his vocal cords.

This is the reason why people don't take this tour seriously any more. It's full of popstar wannabes who are only in it for the cushy jobs and hefty paychecks. What happened to just being happy to play a festival?

Charred Hearts were over the moon when they were asked to play Rebellion. It didn't matter that they were last on the bill, or that they were opening up on Sunday (the slowest day) on the third-or-fourth stage. They were just happy to have the chance to play at a festival like that.

Heck! Charred Hearts aren't even getting paid to play Rebellion. The only thing they're getting is free entry to the festival (on that day). They still have to pay for travel, drink, accomodation, drink, tickets for the other two days, drink and drink.

No-one probably cares about this post, lol, but whateva.

I am a rapper, born to listen AOR and Rock n' Roll like Gn'R, AC/DC etc, but somehow I am always liked punk. No, I am not talking about mainstream crap. (Rancid is good tho', but I don't know if it's really mainstream, but anyways..)

Its all well and good saying that, but your post is a little redundant, as we all love Punk in here, so maybe mention some of these "non mainstream" Punk bands you listen to. sigh.gif

I've been listening to London Calling, I haven't listened to that album in years, Im mainly a fan of The Clash' self titled album, that just f*cking rocks, but Im very fond of London calling, as it was the first clash record I listened to, back when I was about 6 years old, it used to be playing all the time on the old record player.

That gets me thinking, where the hell did my record player get to? dont you just hate it when your parents give things away? f*ck, my uncle has every single Crass & Conflict LP that I want to listen to! mad.gif

There is so much irony in your post Jake that it just makes me laugh. lol.gif

999 is playing around my way soon, though I wont be going to see them. I'm seeing them at Rebellion (will be the third time I've seen them) so I don't really think I need to see them again before then (it will only ruin the experience when I see them at Rebellion). Charred Hearts are supporting them, and out of the kindness of my heart, I decided to design a gig poster for them to replace this monstrosity:

This is the poster I made for them:

What do you think? I thought I would post it in here instead of Visual Arts because; A) I'm not really looking for any real, artistic criticism and B) Because I wanted to know how you gents thought it stacked up as a punk gig poster.

Can you please explain the irony in my post, I honestly dont see your point. I was merely mentioning an album that I have been listening to for the first time in years and the fact that I need to purchase a record player in order to play some old records.

Also: I have been listening to mt mates Alternative ulster EP, this has inspired me to get a record player, the B side is 78 RPM, f*cking classic, cant beat SLF.

Their newer stuff is, sadly. I really enjoy their early stuff, back from around 1981 when they first started. Songs like Ronald Reagan and Persecute Me are great.
