I only like a couple of Reeel Big fish songs, same with Less than Jake, they're more of a pop punk band if you ask me. Rancid have some good ska influenced tracks, like time bomb.

I prefer 2 tone ska, like The specials, The beat, The Selecter, The Body snatchers & Bad manners. I also like earlier ska like Laurel Aitken & Toots & Matyals.

Been listening to more crackrock steady stuff. You should also check out INDK and Star f*cking Hipsters, Jacky Fiend. SFH is Stza's current band. They're decent, though I prefer Leftover Crack; however you might like them.

I'm listening to Star Fucking Hipsters now, and I like them. The female vocals are really interesting. Not forced like some punk female singers. Only checked out one song so far though - so I could be wrong - I doubt it though. lol.gif

I'll check out INDK soon too, I also wanna check out Team Spider, No Cash, Morning Glory and some early Choking Victim.

I like Grindcore, especially AxCx.

I take it you mean Anal Cunt? Aren't they the band that people just listen to because of the song names?

I cannot stand Grindcore, personally. I know a lot of people who are into it because their is quite a large crossover between Crust and Grindcore (the latter being a deritive of the former) but I could never get into it. What I really can't stand though is modern day Grindcore, which is basically a load of scene kids squeling into a microphone without making any sense whatsoever.

UGH, thats pretty true I "sampled" some Anal Cunt to see what it was like and thought the names were amusing and it was just some noise and high pitched screaming... That was the day I discovered Grindcore, I also discovered that I can't stand it. I like a few crust bands but don't have a vast knowlage of them and can't find alot of music from the ones I do like (Instores and on the "shady side" of the internet) anyone know some good ones? the only ones I heard of or I have music from is Nausea, Hellbastard, Amebix (though I only found a few of their songs enjoyable), DOOM (can only find their music on youtube), Aus-Rotten (and their side-bands if you call them crust bands.) I think thats about all the ones I know.

I'm gonna take the lazy way out and instead of reccommending bands for you, I'll just post this site: http://7inchcrust.blogspot.com/. All the crust you could ever want. If you like stuff along the lines of Nausea and Doom, you'll like a lot of the stuff on that site.

Genre names be damned (thou I use them) Lemmy of Motorhead said "There's only good or bad music"

Words to live by.

Apple Maggot Quarantine Area is a crossover band of sorts. This clip on YouTube goes under the first half of their name, But doesn't really sound like the band I know of.

Here's the YT clip;

The song I have archived is again late 1980s, it's Mutant Cats From Hell

http://screwdeathcore.blogspot.com/2008/11...-hell-1988.html

I can't locate the song, so I will be uploading it along with many other Doctor Demento! of METAL favorites!!

Omnia sunt Communia

Just booked my hotel room for Rebellion in August. £140 for four nights (Thursday-Monday) plus breakfast (though I doubt they'll have a vegetarian option), plus it's only round the corner from the Winter Gardens. Pretty much every hotel I rang knew I was going to Rebellion the second I told them the dates. lol.gif

For those of you who are interested, here's the final line-up:

Meh...I thought it was the kind of festival that offers camping. I guess I could sleep in one of those cheap hotels :|

I still think fests are total bullsh*t, sucks that some good bands are actually playing there.

I don't mind fests, though far prefer small venues. The only "fest" I'll be going to this summer is No Way Fest in Richmond, a hardcore fest at a small venue over the course of 3 days.

I'd definitely go to Rebellion. If for nothing else than to see the Adicts. I'd murder a small child to see that band. Bastards never tour outside of SoCal or the UK.

Adicts are probably going to be the highlight of the show. I still can't believe they left Killing Joke and Flogging Molly till last. As if they were worth the wait. I felt cheated when they announced those two bands. Killing Joke, sure, but Flogging Molly? I thought they'd feel more at home at Download.

Still, should be a good show. Got my hotel booked. Waiting on transport details then I should be all set. Only thing left to do is to work my ass off to make the extra money needed for food, drink and merch. lol.gif

The Adicts & The subhumans are the bands Im most looking forward to. Flogging molly are decent, I dont mid them.

I myself prefer small venues, but when all of those bands are playing, you've just got to love it.

Wow, The Beat were absolutely brilliant, they played all of the classics, such as Mirror in the bathroom, Hands off shes mine, Jackpot & my favourite Ranking full stop. Rankin's son was there, acting as a side vocalist "rankin junior", he was awesome. After the show I got a picture with Rankin, even though its bad quality, I'll upload it when I can tounge2.gif

Damn, the beer was dear, especially for such a small venue. I busted all of my taxi money on beer, so I had to ge the bus =/ ftl.

Brilliant show, and I got some guys, who were a similair age to me giving me a free CD, they were a ska band from Wigan, I'll have to listen soon; its always nice to get into new bands.

I'll admit I've only ever heard "Mirror in the Bathroom" by The Beat, anything besides that is a mystery to me. I should really check out more of their stuff. I'm going through a major anarcho/crust stage at the moment; though I did listen to my Ska Mania album today. Maybe I'll check them out soon.

I'm not surprised the beer was small, it always is at venues. I don't think I'm going to be drinking inside the Winter Gardens at Rebellion. I'll probably pop out between bands to get cider and whatnot. Can't see myself paying their extortionate prices for alcohol!

Who here is a fan of the Newtown Nuerotics? Damien sent me a bit of their stuff a while back and I must say; I really liked it. Their songs "Living with Unemployment" and "The Mess" are really good.

One thing that has been annoying me lately is when people complain that a band isn't "punk" if they sing about love and feelings, because "punks" don't sing about that sort of thing. What about The Damned? The Buzzcocks? The Clash? Pretty much every punk band has written at least one song about love. Why is it that now-a-days singing about love is somehow an instant expulsion from the punk genre?

I love the BuZzcocks, infact, I think they're playing in Liverpool somewhere down the line, I must get tickets to them.

I cant wait for the Rebellion mainly for The Adicts, The Damned & The Subhumans. There are a lot of other great bands there too which is great.

15 dollars is about 9 pounds. And I guess you mean how far away do I live from it? I grew up right outside of the city so it's real easy to go out there at night whenever I want and crash with friends. Casualties, Trash Talk, and Star f*cking Hipsters are also playing w/ them.

I listen to dribs and drabs, I'm more into Ska, Reggae and 2-Tone though. I'm listening to Voodoo Glow Skulls right now. A good hardcore/ska punk band. Bought a punk compilation with "El Coo Cool" on it and started getting into them from there.

I'd defiantly go. Just for those two bands. Leftover Crack and Star F*cking Hipsters are both brilliant bands. Too get to see both of them and two other bands, for only £9? I wouldn't pass it up to be honest. I think I'm going to go listen to some SFH now actually...

Two cups of tea anyone? tounge.gif

I'm not a big fan of Reel Big Fish, if I'm honest. I've only heard a few of their songs and most of them sounded quick 'poppy' for my liking. Though I do quite enjoy their covers; though not Monkey Man or 99 Red Baloons. There's much better covers out there of those two songs, this being one of them:

Their cover of Take On Me is...I guess, a love it or hate it kinda thing.

My mates and I enjoy it, and I love the epic-sounding drums during the chorus - that's the only way I can describe it, but I hope you know what I mean tounge.gif

And their other best song (imo) is Beer. I heard it on Baseketball cool.gif

Don't listen to much other Reel Big Fish.

I'm surprised I haven't posted in here more often...I'm quite the punk-music lover.

EDIT: and speaking of 99 Red Balloons covers, does anyone like the Goldfinger version of it?

rbf is sh*t to be honest. way too poppy. i view it as music like green day that you should only listen to under a certain age as a means to get into better music.

i don't really go to many concerts like that, what brand of retards should i expect?
