SLF were quality, brilliant set tonight, couple of new songs aswell which were pretty good.

Tin soldier, Ulster, Johnny was, wasted life. All of the classics were there, all made up for a brilliant gig.

Im knackered and soaked in beer, lol. I'll be as rough as a nuns c*nt in the morning that_guy2057_evilgrin.gif

Got myself a t-shirt and some badges too, pretty cheap.

Off to see Black Eyes & Neckties on Tuesday. Little known horror punk band from Washington. Me and my friend just found out they're playing over here and we almost shat ourselves! We're both big fans.

Train fare: £8.90

Gig Entry: £5.00

Alcohol: £80.00

Seeing BENt: Priceless

I wouldn't say Black Eyes and Neckties are little known. I've heard of them through several channels. I personally don't like 'em at all.

I've been listening to a lot of Region Rock stuff lately (along with a lot of jcore). It's crazy to me that all of these bands are from the south, as you typically don't think of good, raw punk rock coming from southern cities. Check out the Jack Palance Band, Queer Wulf, Forced Vengeance, Hello sh*tty People, and White Trash Superman.

Maybe in America then? Over here they're pretty much unknown.

In my mind, The MENTORS are a punk band. Long live El Duce!!

Are you kidding? These guys suck. Sure, they've taken some roots from punk but they just sound like a sh*tty cover band imo.

SLF did a cover of "Doesen't make it allright" by the Specials inlove.gif It was brilliant.

Strummerville got a great reception, for those of you who dont know what Strummerville is, it is a tribute song to the late, great Joe Strummer.

The crowd was insane for a reasonably small venue, there was about 600 people there, whereas last year (at Liverpool) there was over 1,000.

Why is it that Rock Stars

Always seem to lie so much?

Joe Strummer once said he cared,

but he never really gave a f*ck

Said he'd use the money he made

To set up a radio station to make the

Airwaves full of something more than sh*t

Have you noticed we're still Waiting?

Probably the only Rudimentary Peni song I like right there. f*ck Joe Strummer, f*ck the Clash.

Meh, a friend of mine liked them for a while. I never really cared much for the Clash, They sound too "poppy" (Pop-ish?) and never really grabbed my attention.

Hey guys, I need some creative ideas for a design I'm about to draw on my punk friend's leather jacket.

He says it has to have a traditional "Oi!" and a punk somewhere.

Can someone gimme tips? Pretty please?

It seems your friend likes his custom leather and his Oi!, so heres a link to the uk82 scene here.

Things you should ask yourself is "what are his favourite bands?", "what does he stand for?" etc. if he wants to jump on the "studded leather/boots/mohawk" band wagon. Dont just go plastering silly things like "No Future" all over it.

This is really a choice of your friend, if he likes Oi! then he will be into bands such as Sham 69, The Cockney Rejects, Angelic upstarts, The Business, The 4-Skins etc.

This is what a simple google search directed me to:

#1

Theres even a "how to", which is completely contradictive as the whole punk jacket thing is was meant to be a "do it yourself" thing.

#3

Im also sure if you searched google images you will find a lot.

Thanks, Prox.

He likes G.B.H., The Exploited, and some other stuff.

I like some punk, but softer punk... Like Stranglers (if they even are classified as punk), they're awesome.

Yeah, The Stranglers are a brilliant band. The Exploited are street punk in my opinion, yet some people class them as Oi!, but who cares, its all Punk, its all f*cking awesome. GBH are a brilliant band, you can find all sorts of GBH/Exploited patches on e-bay icon14.gif

So, the Stranglers are Punk?

I thought they were surf rock like Beach Boys or something like that.

Peaches, or Down in the sewer point in that direction. tounge.gif

Just my ignorance, don't even bother to laugh, I'm fairly uneducated when it comes to Punk.

The Stranglers were originally a pub-rock band, but ended up jumping on the punk bandwagon during the moevment.

the Stranglers originally built a following alongside the mid-'70s pub rock scene. Their aggressive, no-compromise attitude made them one of the instigators of the developing UK punk rock scene, although their idiosyncratic approach rarely followed any single musical genre with the group going on to explore a variety of musical styles, including punk rock, gothic rock, and new wave through to the pop of some of their '80s output

If you can work out what goes in this thread, then you either need a pair of glasses or to wander off back to "special" school. This thread is for talking about Punk. Love it or hate it, it's been around since the 70's and it doesn't look to fade away just yet.

Oh, and to anyone who says Punk is dead: You're just not looking hard enough. sese.gif

As for bands, I listen to:

...OUTL4W,

...

Man OUTLAW?! That is Rap. U listen "Punk" OUTLAW? But u are wrong that is rap.

I have something to say. Fack [u=a] the Punk!!!

Whoa, we're talking about The Stranglers in here?

Personally, I thought they never did better than Rattus Norvegicus. No More Heroes and Black & White just sounded odd to me, especially being such a departure from their debut, which is great bass-heavy music. I admittedly never got into any album past that, because frankly I wasn't interested in the rapid change of direction their music had undergone after Rattus.

Don't see what all the fuss is about Golden Brown either.

The Dead Milkmen are good.

Personally I find them very annoying. Never really understood what anyone found appealing about them but then again not many people listen to them to begin with.

Yes. Because watching how to do it then doing it yourself is defiantly not "doing it yourself." :whuh

I still find it hilarious that you try to take the "punk highground" in every discussion. I find it even more funny when you consider the fact that you started off in this forum by creating a thread about Rancid.

Woah, woah. Calm your jets flyboy. There's also a punk band called OUTL4W, incase you didn't know. You can find their MySpace here. Do your research before you come in here shooting your mouth off.

Lucky bastard. I've been trying to see The Vibrators for months now. I keep missing them whenever I get the chance to; either due to lack of funds, transport of other problems. I hope they tour sometime this year/next otherwise I think I might have to shoot myself. tounge.gif

Black Eyes & Neckties was pretty sh*t, to be honest. The support bands consisted of an wannabe indie-pop band and a wannabe metalcore band. BENt came on and just basically played their newest album; completely ignoring all their best songs. Got some free patches out of it though. icon14.gif

I personally wouldn't mind seeing the vibrators, I heard they've got a pretty huge fanbase. I was listening to a couple of their early recordings a few weeks ago including Baby baby & Keep it clean.

I love all the early punk bands, I cant wait till The Nipple erectors tour again, I missed 'em last year sad.gif

One band who could be classified punk is Mondo Trasho, along with Vile and Impaler. the 80s metal scene in tne Midwest had some scarring originality.

I put up the first of a blurb from Vile, some onstage banter. They never held back punches!

Wait for the audio, I started capture before it was cued to play!

I've been listening to the Nipple erectors/The Nips recently, they were playing a while back but I missed out. So pissed off is a cracking song, I also like Nervous wreck, the B side to King of the bop. Do we have any other Nipple erectors fans here?

When I seen SLF live last week, I was expecting Chelsea to be supporting, but we got some sh*te band from Birkenhead called Bob, Bob, Bob & Bob, apparently they haven't toured in 15 years, but were brought back into it when asked to support the Undertones, they're a band I dislike aswell, I have no idea why.

Im going to go all out here and bring up the Sex Pistlols, been listening to the Spunk bootleg CD I found lying around and realised how much I love Satellite, should have been on NMTB sly.gifI wanna be me is great, the B side of Anarchy in the UK, one of my favourite songs by 'em.

Does anyone like The Restarts? they're pretty good, I know they're a pretty popular band and more or less every one knows of them, but I like some of their records.

I just got back from watching One Step Below/Nuttyness, a Madness tribute act. Superb band. Wouldn't be able to tell them apart from the real thing on disc. Though the band themselves were pretty similar to the band. The lead singer was a spitting image of Madness'.

Never seen so many skinheads in one place though! They're all sure they're going to convert me. lol.gif

I love my "ska skins", when I watched the Beat live, there was loads of 'em, and I mean bloody loads, then there was a load of black guys with 2tone suits & pork pie hats, nice to see the racial unity; its sad to see alot of people directly labelling skins with racism, they obviously know nothing about the sub culture.

Yeah, speaking of Ska, am I allright talking about 2tone in here? as the ska thread is dead and I dont want to double post in there icon13.gif

Not too mention a horde of ska, 2-tone, reggae and dancehall music. I listen to quite a few Oi! bands as well - but I'm too caught up in my left-wing politics and horror themes to really get into it. tounge.gif

...then there was a load of black guys with 2tone suits & pork pie hats...

Ah, Rudeboys. I mean proper Rudeboys. Not these cheap imitation ones you see nowadays running around listening to Reel Big Fish in a pork pie hat and checkered ties. Proper Jamaican Rudeboys. lol.gif

It's sad, but true. Skinheads and racists do co-mingle quite frequently. It's just ignorant to ignore that fact. You go to any sort of National Front, BNP, White Power, Neo-Nazi or whatever rally and the majority of the people there will be skinheads. Sad but true.

Some bloke at One Step Below last night asked me where my BNP badge was. dontgetit.gif

Go for it. Ska, 2-tone and punk have been bedfellows for years anyway. I doubt anybody is going to complain. This topic is dead enough as it is (Punk's Not Dead, But This Thread Is!). We could do with some activity. tounge.gif
