PB&James
Well, move or lock this topic if it doesn't fit here, but I'm doing a report on some economic theory and, more specifically, the effect product delays have on consumers. I figured this was a good example of a product that meant a lot to people that would evoke a lot of different reactions from people because of its delay. I was wondering if you guys could help me and just tell me whether or not the delay increased your desire for the game or decreased your desire for the game. Thanks a lot for any help! Also, I'm a huge fan of GTA, I'm not just trying to bother you guys on your board. Move or lock this topic if it needs to be moved or locked! YourNeighborhoodKiller
Honestly the delay pissed me off pretty badly. But after waiting so long, and getting all this new information about the game. It seems my desire for the game really increased.
ceedot
Pissed me off. Most likely pissed everyone off. It is coming out after major holidays so that sucks. Most people think; 'if the game is going to be better, than it's good'. I agree with them. The only sh*t thing is that they still havn't given a release date after 5 months of annoucing it(the delay). It puts up the desire.
Isuck100%
The delay definitely decreased my desire for the game. My desire then increased with the release of the third trailer and now I'm more excited than before the delay.
damian001
My reaction? It pissed me off. Am I still going to buy the game? Yes, with an XBOX360 too. (GTA4 is making me buy the new console) Will I also buy a new PC release? Yes, I'll even upgrade my computer. My original plan was to wait until the holidays of 2007 to buy myself GTA4 and an xbox360. Due to the delay, if a release date is stated before March 21; then I'll buy an XBOX 360 for my birthday (Mar. 21) and play something like CoD4 and wait until GTA4 comes out. If it isn't I'll just wait until GTA4 does come out and buy an xbox360 with it. Why the Xbox360?: Its cheaper and mostly because of exclusive content. Besides, I'm not much of a console guy. GTA:VC made me buy a new computer in 2003 just to play it; it then turned me into a PC gamer for life. Is it increasing my desire? Short-lived. I started playing GTA games more and more during October because I attempted to play all 10 GTA games in chronological order to see if I can beat them all before the release of GTA4. I gave up on London 1969. (GTA1: London 1961, GTA1: London 1969, GTA3: VCS, GTA3:VC, GTA3:SA, GTA1, GTA3:LCS, GTA3: Advance, GTA3, GTA2) My shorter thoughts: When is the release date? DavidGC
I was on holidays at the time of the delay so I didn't find out until I got back (I was litteraly on an island with nothing in terms of technology). I was pretty pissed at first but then I thought: "f*ck! No matter how hard I hit this desk, it won't make IV come any sooner". Going on that logic for a few months, I've managed to stay somewhat interested in the game and still have a desk with decent stability.
Darrel
Once the delay was announced i was a bit down, but my feeling for the game didnt change I still wanted it as much as i did before the delay, just had to accept it.

And the blood. Anyway, yeah. I was angry, but I never lost interest in it.

xxtremeguyxx2001
I would say that the delay neither increased nor decreased my desire for the game. My attitude toward Gta4 will not change regardless of any delay. I have faith in Rockstar and I know that they will release an awesome game when ready. I definitely support Rockstar's decision in the delay and when it's fully completed it would be worth waiting for.
Grand Theft Columbo
I'm used to it because of the previous games' delays. What gets me all anal is when they don't give a fixed release date and hype it with a 3 month window.
ceedot
Here's my pre-order. Yeah, it's old. Pre Ordered GTA IV Limited Edition on the 4th of October 2007. I agree with Columbo about the release date. We should get it in about 10 days from now. Edited January 19, 2008 by ceedot
NYC PATROL
Alright, you guyz may think im WEIRD or some crap, but honestly im glad there was a delay. The developers could put extra time into it and stuff. With the new previews coming out next week, THE EXTRA effort Rockstar has put into the game will show tremendously. yonkers749
i can not describe how angry i was. i was away for the week, and one of my friends sent me a text messege " GTA IV, delayed till 08", i was like "lol your hillarious, dont even joke". i never did beleive him. then, the next week when i got home, there was a messege on my answering machine from gamestop (i preordered the game back last april, so i was even more pissed) "Grand Theft Auto IV has been delayed untill an undisclosed period". Lets just say, the following day i had to buy a new answering machine.

What you don't realize is this: Rockstar didn't finish the game, then delay it so they could 'make it better' They delayed it so they could make it as good as they said it would be. It won't be any better than they already planned. So they're not using these 6 months to add in 'features' and make pretty graphics. They're making the game.
