Mmjr3
This has probably been talked on about a zillion times before but cant really find anything to answer if the map...which is said to be about 3/4 the size of San Andreas. Will this be a vertical scale including the interiors or just a 3/4 the size in area with all of the interiors included.
ryan207
We don't know, but hopefully it's 3/4ths the area and not including the insides.
Carbine23
We don't know, but hopefully it's 3/4ths the area and not including the insides. Hopefully 4/5ths. The map will probably be like the whole map of San Andreas, just without Tierra Robada and Bone County and maybe a little of Las Venturas.
A.Bod
it will be smaller map size-wise, but there will be more places to travel, go in and out of, cross over, climb, etc. BECAUSE you can go inside skyscrapers and if you can go in skyscrapers the whole thing is eneterable, you can go everywhere in it, probably with the option of elevator or stairs. Ryder 556
It's not 3/4 the size of sa, in travle time it's bigger in map distance it's only a bit smaller (not a 1/4 smaller). But it's apperantly bigger in scale then SA. Edited January 18, 2008 by ioN

I have heard about it being around 3/4ths the size of SA. What I was saying is I'm hoping the ground areas is about that size and the interiors are just that much more explorable space. Nineteen71
The 3/4 size of San Andreas Rockstar referred to for GTAIV includes the interior & vertical aspect of the game, the actual map is not expected to be 3/4 the size of San Andreas. "It's roughly similar in scope to San Andreas, but it's much more dense, much more detailed - not only horizontally but vertically as well," we're told. "On the one hand you've got horizon views, on the other you've got many layers of a city built upwards towards the sky. It's definitely the biggest single city we've ever done. That city isn't going to be the size of San Andreas, because that would be absurd, but if you take into account the level of verticality of the city, the number of buildings you can go into, and the level of detail in those buildings, then you're talking about a game that is similar to San Andreas in terms of scope." So yes it will be 3/4 in size, approximately, in terms of scope, relativity, but not in the literal sense.

MysteryGamer
The map as a whole maybe smaller than Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas but mark my words the game map will still be huge in Grand Theft Auto IV especially because we can enter more interiors which are larger in size itself. There will be no wasted space either so everything will be tightly packed together and that alone will make Liberty City in Grand Theft Auto IV feel massive. No Problem, when you get a chance you should definitely read the 10 page preview, and the five page preview before that one (#1). It may not bring up any new information, but it's definitely worth the read as they do tell some things others didn't say, including the dialog between Niko & the Lawyer, and Niko & the Blackmailer (the one who's phone you have to call in order to identify who he is.) Yea, other reason I tried to avoid it was since I was trying to avoid any previewed storyline. I want to start up the game having no idea what to expect storyline wise. Zombified Jake
It's going to feel huge, after all, you will be in a tuned up, perfected city with lots to do and places to explore. Sure GTA SA had size, but the lack of detail let it down. And quite a lot of interiors in GTA IV are accesible right?

Don't know what percentage of interiors will be accessible, but the ones that you can enter are complete. Not like in SA where it was literally one room. ceedot
3/4 the size as in square metres, not cubed. The interiors all together + the map size will be the size of San Andreas, or even bigger.
