Oblivionz
It's funny how you all debate whether or not to do something, and yet nobody actually steps forward and begins work. It's also humorous to see how CubanWhip, the self-imposed chairman of the entire project, has vanished without a trace. In any case, bravo, fellas. Yeah, he got banned from /b/ so he'll be making a return shortly.

Stefan.
I think the character bios should be about 3 paragraphs in length, with each paragraph about 7-10 lines long. In the first paragraph, we outline the personal background of the character. For example, his family life, childhood, nationality, lovers, etc. In the second paragraph, we describe our character's business works. For example, who he/she has assassinated, who he/she has worked for, and so on. Finally, in the third chapter, we describe why exactly our character is doing in the current political situation. That's a good enough start?

Stefan.
Alright then, even though I'm a mercenary, I think the mercenaries should go first since we want to get this going. **************************************** Introduction Life sucks. Yep, it sure does. Why the hell am I in here? Is it because of the money? The people? The war? Nope, none of them. To fill out my fantastically big ego. Am I stupid? Yes I am. This is worst than when I signed up for the army and went to Kosovo. Much, much worse. I'm a Serb, stuck in Colombia, fighting for some mercenaries who don't want to lose power. Oh, God! I even forgot to introduce myself. I'm Zdravko, Zdravko Branisavljevic, but you can call me Zdrav. I was born in the town of Cacak, in southern Serbia, and I'm currently 29 years-old (I turn 30 in November). I'm engaged to a Croatian woman, Marjica, but whether I get back alive is what's on my mind now. When I was 19, I got my first job in the army. I was deployed to Kosovo, which used to be a Serbian province but with an ethnic Albanian majority. I was well adapted to the whole process of run, kill, and run again, yet I still knew that that was not enough. After a year of patrolling the borders between Macedonia and Serbia, I moved back to the town Nis, and started my degree as a lawyer at the university there. My home country was going into turmoil, and I wanted to step up and take forceful action against those who are ruining it, and giving this land a bad reputation. Yep, that was going to work. Of course, things don't go as planned. Instead of rising to the top of the Serbian government, I'm kidnapped in 2007 by some Mexican drug cartel, who are smuggling drugs across Asia. They deport me to Mexico, torture me, main me, and free me, for whatever reason. They tell me that I must sign up for the Colombian Army, and protect it from the revolutionaries, otherwise they will not let me go. Yep, life sucks. ****************************************

TubbyJ
Nice one, Stefan. As for our tense-issues, let's just keep first person for the bios, agreed? Here's mine, it's a little direct and in an unrealistically descriptive tone, but meh, I've gotta find a way to bring him into the story somehow, right? I introduce to you, Dean Flanagan: Date: June 28, 2008Time: 0230 Location: Over the Carribean Sea en route to Caracas, Colombia Log: I was brought up in a Northern Ireland town called Whitley. It was ravaged by the Protestant-Catholic fighting. I grew up with constant fear of being blown to bits by a car bomb everytime I walked outside. I was a Catholic, I've lost my faith by now, and my father fought alongside his fellow practitioners in that civil war. He was killed in a fight outside my home when I was fifteen, but he taught me how to handle weapons of all kind. After I renounced my faith when my only caretaker died, I lived with my aunt in the Glasgow, where I called the lowliest of scum in that city my mates, making me ruthless. After I moved I did a few oddjobs, including hits for hire, I eventually became something of a legend in the UK's underworld, then I was contacted by a large military contracting company named Johannson-Henrikson Paramilitary Contractors. I've been around the world ever since, protecting, transporting, and killing for vast sums of money. Now my exploits have led me to this helicopter, flying from San Juan to Caracas to help a few faceless revolutionaries topple a corrupt government. Old news. Vercetti21
I don't know guys, I just don't see this happening, to be honest. At least not yet. Besides the fact that we have nearly nothing to show for from our "planning stage", it seems as if most of the members of our project have either disappeared, lost interest, are dealing with writer's block, or (if you are like me) just don't have the time right now. It's cool we've actually gotten to the writing and everything, but I just don't see this whole thing coming together. However, I don't mean to say that putting this off for a little while is a bad idea. We've learned from our mistakes in this first attempt for the most part, and if we were to give it another go (pick up from where we left off, or just redo the whole thing entirely) I think we, and the project itself, will be better off. I'm not officially out, but if others agree with me, then we should discuss plans for rescheduling this.
TubbyJ
Alright, I agree for the most part. I've like four stories I'm writing right now, I don't really need to worry about this either. I say we reschedule this a month forward, if we're in agreement, then I also say we bookmark the page for future reference. A month would also give us fresh ideas and time to think up characters. Anyone else agree to a month from now we continue this? I think we've come to far to let it just die.
Vercetti21
A month? You haven't forgotten about IV's release, have you? I'm predicting a bit of a drought to hit the forums then, and we can't be distracted. Plus with exams and such after that, most of us will be even busier. I say we wait until summer. That gives us plenty of time to complete IV, as well as get school out of the way. Then again, not everyone on here is in school, but I believe most of us are. TubbyJ
For you to complete IV, I'm poor as f*ck. How about this: We all wait like two-three months (summer), and while we're waiting we write our own stories based on our characters (not mandatory, but I'm planning it at least) that take place in the "Writer's Discussion Universe"? Eh? Eh? How's that sound? And we can create a whole new topic for our Universe.
Vercetti21
Sounds fine to me, we'll just play it by ear for the most part.

Oxidizer
I like the idea of playing around with a mini-story for each of our characters (assuming that's what you meant) till we actually start this thing. And seeing as there's already some profiles on here (which are awesome BTW! ) and that I'm out of my writing mood right now, I'll just divulge my hit[wo]man's name: Carmen Lewis - and she's ruthless. Oxidizer
Carmen's a contractual killer who works exclusively for an organized crime syndicate that's operating out of Washington, and has in the past killed the 6-year-old daughter of an opposing gangland boss. The Unvirginiser
Can I get on this crate? If I help out could somebody please give me a breifing on what it is you need me to do to spare me 18 pages of labour?
Stefan.
@TubbyJ and Vercetti: Well, I'm in Australia, and that's when school is busiest for me. I can try and fit it around then, if need be. But nonetheless, it's a smashing idea. @The Unvirginiser: Basically, there is a revolution in Colombia, with two sides fighting; the old government (mercenaries) and the new government (revolutionaries). There are also various hitman around, working for different sides (hitmen) and also some American soldiers coming in to clean the mess up (spec-ops). So far, we have 2 spec-ops, 3 hitmen, 3 revolutionaries, and 3 mercenaries. Therefore, it's best if you join the spec-ops, if you want.

Chickstick
Okay, so what are we doing? Is this starting now, or in the summer? I'd prefer the summer, but would be able to start this now if needs be? I won't post my character just yet, as there's no point if we decide to leave it for a while.
Oxidizer
Either's fine I suppose. Though I reckon waiting till summer would probably work best for me, seeing as it's still uncertain as to why hitmen are roaming the place. Do we have to think of our agendas or what? I'm still unclear on that. If so, I got some major thinking to do.
TubbyJ
The hitmen are in Colombia because they've been hired by various (or just one) international crime boss. Their (or his) motives could be to kill the new president because he's cracking down on drugs, human trafficking, or any other illicit activity. I'm still on for continuing this later, I gotta think about my guy a little more. What about the WD Universe? Should I create a topic to discuss? Oxidizer
I was thinking "winter!?" but then I remembered that you're in Aus. Good call. Maybe we should wait till then - at least by then we'd have had everything (hopefully) planned. I guess I should think of who Sophia's firm would want killed in Colombia. Perhaps a president like suggested. I know the CIA allegedly hire crime organization hitmen to do their dirty work, but that'd be a bit too conspiritorial, won't it?
