GTA 4 driving

Do you think that if you wanted to you would be able to be a respected citizen this time around? I mean like be able to drive good, and follow the laws. If the previous GTA's you could not drive like everyone else, and the cars speeds and turns and stuff like that were unrealistic. I mean if you accelerated even really slow you would burn out, or if you hit the brakes a little you would burn out. I hated it, and when you turned no matter how slow/ fast you were going your tires would squeal. I think it would be nice to be able to drive like everyone else, and not be a maniac all the time. And I would like to see a brake button, a E-brake button, and a gas button. Like you would have to, lets say push the right bumper to put it into reverse.

I would always try to drive slow and stop at red lights and stuff like that. (not all the time.) But it was to hard and fusterating. I really hope they really focused a lot on the driving.

Now I want to hear eveyones input.

Re-read your post, then ask yourself, "Why?"

Exactly!

You have made pointless topics, this one, however is not.

The previous installments were a little dull on driving respectfully (I dare not use the world realistically), but I dunno why I tried it, I usually try to act sane for a while on the game for some reason.

Hopefully GTA IV improves on this.

Indeed. Like when you hit something in a very low speed and then the front glass of the car break..

The carphysics in the GTA-series are very unrealistic. I've never really liked it. sarcasm.gif

Of course it will be improved.

I know that it will be improved. That is not what I was saying. I was saying do you think...never mind, it's not even worth it to write it all out.

I know what you mean, and like i said yes it will be improved. Dont really know what you want us to say?

Yeah it's nice but trust me after a while you will get bored and just hit the accelerate button just because its there.

You could on the ps2...

With the analogues... Not sure about the Xbox version though...

on the xbox they used the pressure sensative triggers for acceleratin for controlled speeds.

i get what you mean with all the screechy tires and stuff. i tried to do that and it never was any good.. i think it was all because the cars weren't as heavy as they should have been.. it will be improved. in the trailers you see him driving sanley.

well actually you CAN drive slow like the other cars in the older versions of gta. just try it for a few minutes and you will see that it's just frustratingly boring.

on the other hand, driving like a maniac isn't really great either because it's just not realistic. where in real life could you possibly go maximum speed for miles like you can in san andreas... if you're lucky and you don't get pwnd by those stupid ai cars who change lanes although you are right next to them there's no problem with driving around the whole state without ever taking your foot/finger off the gas. that's just bullsh*t.

i think it would be best to have the other cars drive a little more realistic, i.e. they drive different speeds so that you (niko) are not always faster then everyone...

also a higher density of traffic (although i don't think they will put actual traffic jams in the game as a feature) would add to you not being able to go at unrealistic speed non-stop.

i probably have already said it but i'm not the best at putting my thoughts together without really thinking about what i want to say before... if you watch videos of real-life pursuits the drivers will never be able to go full spd all the time. especially on intersections it's hard to get through if you don't obey the traffic law. i would like to see that in gta iv. and because it's set in ny/lc it's likely that driving will be harder and it'll take longer to travel from one place to another because of high traffic.

wow, so much text and so little to say. i suck.

I dont know why people on these threads are such dicks!!!!

This is a completey valid thread and is somthimg that i would like to find out about as well.

I owuld like to see you being able to drive correctly like normal peds, it would also bee cool if you did maybe somthing like run a red light or if you went over the speed limit then the police would pull you over and give you a ticket or somthing. This would also be cool if it happebd to peds, so you could watch them getting busted and then kill them!!! ahahahaha devil.gif

Anyway I think this thread is decent and people who dont are all prik heads!!!!!

It is almost impossible to drive realistacally in any GTA, especially San Andreas with the burnouts and screeching. Ive found that The Getaway series allows you to drive nicely, especially with a steering wheel and foot pedals. I must admit, san andreas had quite nice suspension phisics. Im hoping that cars drive smothley in GTAIV, in the past games the cornering looks so terrible, and the braking is too hard, and if there are highways then I hope cars dont pull out in front of you with no warning.

Listen, dont call people who dont particularly like this thread 'dicks and prick heads'. I agree this needs to be improved, but it's frigging obvious it will be. Therefore case closed as far I'm concerned.

YourNeighborhoodKiller

It will be a normal driving like all the games were.

Except more advanced.

I don't see what your problem is.

i think it will take a while to reach actual top speed, like in previous games it was easier to go high speed because the cars felt "light", i think in this one the cars look more "heavy" as if a real car does, maybe because of the new suspension.- like it doesnt take a car actually 2 seconds to reach top speed it takes a while- but hopefully you get what im saying because it was hard to explain. to me i would like this because it adds on to the realism of driving-no not like "too much realism"- but like "this is the kind of realism R* is talking bout" kind of way

Of course he can. Some people, no, Many people here feel the need to exert the level of annoyance they feel towards a person or idea, rather than explain themselves at all. Thats pretty dickish.

Like the first guy responding to the OP; The OP explained Why he wanted all these changes so he obviously knew what he was saying. He didnt need to be told to reread and ask why.

Rather than asking the OP 'why' maybe we should be asking seriouslycrazy if he even read the topic at all. Was it not clear enough? Do you want it spelt out to you (not that it wasnt already)?

Looking at the trailers I see that it's almost like real-life driving.

Yeah man. The way vehicles roll onto their suspension going around corners. Vehicle physics from what i can tell are right up there with any next gen racing/driving game icon14.gificon14.gif

Gooners-jay-and-scott

I like this topic because in previous GTA's you could not drive normal without most other cars smashing into you at traffic lights or cars turning into your lane without warning and for no reason.

If GTA adds other cars to be more realistic and drive normal speeds and follow normal road laws then i will be very happy (Obviously some cars can drive like maniacs to add some realism).

Also it would be good to implant a speedometer colgate.gif

I don't get what you're trying to get out of the members... you just stated an opinion, like Darrel said, of course it will be improved... so are you just looking for us to agree or something?

Yeah, The Getaway is nice. But I prefer Driver Parallel Lines, or maybe Driv3r. The carphysic in Driver PL is just awesome.

I agree.

People...if you don't like the topic or how he presented it, you could always just ask him to be a bit more clear as to what he's trying to say. Why all the pictures with "FAIL" written at the bottom? Is that REALLY necessary? To me, that does seem dickish.

But on topic, yeah I love just driving around like a normal person. Everyone doesn't play gta the same way, and people don't drive the same way. I mean sure, its fun just speeding down the street and crashing into cars and peds and raising alll kinds hell. But sometimes I just rather chill back and go for a nice sunday drive so to speak.
