BigGamer
If you don't agree I will fight you. That is no lie. There's nothing much to say, as it's all been said before. To reinforce a few points, it's great if you're hoping to lose weight, and it's a great cardiovascular (heart/veins/arteries) work out. Why do you have two accounts? I doubt its the same person. Hayden S came from Isara.com I think. It is the same person, thank you. It's already been explained, so let's keep this on topic, shall we? kevin2006rhs
Now, also jogging/running can be harmful to your knees as pressure is placed on the knees with every step, but I wouldn't worry about that unless you have suffered a knee injury of some sort, or have knee problems. Depending on your weight or prior knee problems you may want to heed his advice. The extra stress of excess weight or the running alone can create or advance prior issues in your knees and ankles. I spent 3 years running in the mornings, and 8 months of that in a military training enviroment. Most of my friends or fellow soldiers have fallen out because of prior knee/ankle injuries, reoccurring shinsplints, or (in my case) vascular problems in your lower extremities. Mine was a rare occurrence, about 1 in 1,000, and it was amplified by a Grenade Incident, so unless you already have vascular abnormalities anywhere in your body, you should have a problem. On top of all that, there is a man that lives down the road from me, who started running 30 years ago as a recreational exercise everyday. He is about 60 or so now and still runs, or tries to. His knees and ancles are shot and looks more like a granny-mall walker with a limp (not the good limp...like the pimp limp). Due to all of the special problems that surround the act of jogging I would advise you to swim. It less detrimental to your joints and works more muscle groups. It has done me well, sure I have always been a pretty fit guy, but for 6'3'' and 200lbs and a prior leg injury it has been the best thing I have ever come across for exercise. Its great cardio-vascular work, burns calories better than sex*, and what girl can resist a swimmer's body. Besides, if you want to work another muscle group, switch your swim style up to just legs, or just arms, or snake through the water to work your core body. (*Or you can sex it off like I do when I miss one of my 3 swim days.)

Last time I went swimming I ended up with two leg cramps and was in so much excruciating pain I wanted to pass out so I wouldn't have to feel it. Yeah. I think I might just give running a try. No seriously, water is a more dangerous environment for someone cramp-prone. When I used to run back in my Health classes, I never had cramps. I seriously want to start running again. How much would it help for shedding weight in the chest/stomach area? I've honestly been thinking of doing this for a long while, actually. Cuse
No sense in starting a new topic. I think if I just work out on my arms and not put stress on my back I should be fine. I heard you shouldn't work on your arms every day though.....what if I just do a light work out on them each day they should be fine then right? When you rip and build up muscles, they need a day or two to heal and grow. Than you go back at it for a day, and rest again. TheDude5000: Learn to swim right or stay in the shallow end. You do know you can get hit by a car when you run don't you?
Stefan.
I asked my dad for some advice on this, considering he is a physiotherapist. He says both are great, but recommends swimming. Swimming is the only physical activity that can exercise every muslce in the body. Even the diaphragm, and face muslces. Since I am overweight, he says the best thing for me to do is go swimming 3-4 times a week. Swim, that is all. Go vigorously for about 45 minutes. He says even if I vomit, it is good; it means my body is actually working hard to rid the fat. And due to it working out every single muscle, after a month or so (in my case: 5'4 and 125), I should have a ripped body.

Come on dude.
Stefan.
I am not that overweight. Just on the chubby side, yet still overweight. And, although it may not seem realistic, my dad is a medical professional with almost 40 years of experience. He is also referring to the fact if I literally go every day, and keep on swimming for 1 hour.
