"Saw many missions, lots to talk about"

Hey,

I was just checking out that other guys topic, the one which said the IGN preview is coming on wednesday...

And he quoted someone saying "New preview on Jan 23. Saw many missions. Lots to talk about."

Ok, so, we've already seen a couple of missions (maybe 3, i can't really remember) and they're a good read but they usually let slip a cool feature or two that give a way a certain aspect of the game.

For example, (For those of you who would prefer not to know just skip this part...)

One peview described to us how Niko needed to identify his target, how there was a crowd of people in which the perp was standing, and to figure out who he had to kill he dialed his cell and waited to see who'd reach for their pocket. So the guy goes for his phone and then Niko pops him.

And, i gotta say, that's a kick ass feature, but i feel as though i would've prefered to find out for myself... confused.gif

And now with the new previews on the way, there'll no doubt be a couple of new gameplay mechanics or some sort of intuitive feature revealed that would obviously be good to read, but also, they'll be one or two less things to look forward to.

So the point of this thread is to ask you guys; Are you going to dive straight into the new previews, welcoming them with open arms, scrambling every single piece of information you can salvage? Or; Are you going to, just sit back, let them pass and wait for the game to hit the shelves?

I know which one I'd be...

...well, at least, I know which one I'd like to be... haha.

I'm reading all the previews. I guess I'm not like most people. Knowing the end to a movie or some sh*t like that doesnt ruin it for me. I can enjoy it just as much as if I had never seen it, maybe even more so. Anyway R* already stated that the info they are giving out will give out barely any info about the game and I trust them, not that I care.

I am going to start reading them as soon as I can. I'll probably read the IGN one and the Kikizo one but then I'll just find out the new info off gta4.net or the forums. Im not afraid of it revealing too much as i know, no matter how much they will show there will still be alot more to see.

Maybe this could be made into a poll of who will read them and who wont. It would be interesting to see out of many people who dont want new previews how many actualy wont read them.

I know what you mean, you make a good point. However i just couldnt let them go by without reading them, it's hard to resist. Although i dont want to know about the missions they whitnessed. I would rather them keep it a secret, but they are obviously going to go into detail.

Im going to be engulfing these previews whole, sh*t them out, and re eat it several times over until new info or the game is released.

I always laugh at people who go on about how they dont want to know too much and want to find everything on their own after they buy it. Then as soon as a new preview comes out, they're the first ones reading it and getting excited about all the new info. Then a month later they're back to saying they don't want to know anymore. Until a new article with screenshots comes out...

I want to know everything I can, I will take the time to read this preview thoroughly. I find it better to know certain things ahead of time so I know what to expect. I don't see how you could spoil gameplay features, I'd rather know about them so I have an idea of what I'm going to be buying. I wouldn't even care if they spoiled the story line, I'll still enjoy it just as much.

Gross.

I've read/seen everything so far, and I'm sure I'll read these previews as well. BUT, if I still don't have a PS3 by the time the game comes out, I'm NOT going to want to see any gameplay footage (meaning anything people upload to YouTube, etc). The trailers and a couple previews are as far as I'll go. Then I'm gonna refrain from any new info until I have the game myself. smile.gif

I know what you mean. I'll probably read all the previews, several times over many days, but if i don't get the sense the game will be completed very very shortly, or hints at a release date i'll be dissappointed confused.gif We should of had this game months ago...

I'm not really worried about spoilers. For GTA IV it'll just make me more excited for the game, and help hold me over till its release.

For some games I avoid spoilerific previews, like for Bioshock, but GTA IV is just one of those games where I want to know everything I can.

didnt R* say that they were only going to reveal like 20-30% of the info before the game is released? if they are still adhering to this there will be plenty to discover on your own as you play the game.

If we can't see any of the actual gameplay, we might as well read about it from someone who has. Right?

It's either that or take up knitting and forget about the game completely until it's released.

I'm looking forward to Kikizo's preview. I enjoyed their last one.

If they "saw many missions" then I reckon Kikizo will have a massive mammoth preview. Like Darrel said, it's hard to resist... I too don't want to know any further info... but it's hard to resist, and reading the previews is really really entertaining.

I plan on reading all the previews a couple times biggrin.gif. With san andreas I read so much about it and was still floored with what was actually in the game. Im not worried about "gameplay spoilers"

If you feel that you already know enough information about GTA and you don't want to read the previews, then here is something simple.

DON'T READ THE PREVIEWS!

Haha, yeah, great point. I, too, read up on SA almost waaay too much before it came out, and R* has recently mentioned that they wouldn't be giving out as much info this time around (I believe someone said R* reported that they would only give out around 30% total?)...which when you think about it, wasn't really that much in the first place, considering -- like gta-guru said -- there was so much more left to discover for ourselves in SA -- even after reading all of the previews. That in mind, think about what all we do know about GTAIV already -- and what's left (and going to be left after the new preview Wednesday) to discover...then juxtapose that with how much there was left about SA to find and do...and realize that GTAIV is the next step in the series (says enough in itself) and that they've claimed it will be as big of a jump as "from GTA 2 to GTA III"-- but like I need to say anymore! It's R* we're talking about; they never put on an "okay" show...and we all know that.

Simply put...I feel we'll all be in for a huge surprise(s). And in only 2 to 3 months at that!

The reason I'm like that, is because we know for a fact that R* isn't revealing anywhere near as much info this time, for obvious reasons, like everyone knows. That counters any contradiction there.

Even the info we have isn't that much; there's barely any explicitness at all. There's the '30%' thing, which I haven't seen a source for, but it makes sense, and if it's true it'll leave much surprise. Nothing to worry about, no matter what we read or see really.

If it were how it was before SA, however... ...ahh, I'd still be on these forums. confused.gif

Sorry to say it, but that's a selfish way of seeing things.

Just because YOU don't want to know, you want them to not release anything else.

I want to know more. And I know thousands of other people want more info.

You aren't tied to a chair and forced to read the articles. It's about choice. So it's your CHOICE to find out new info. Don't blame Rockstar confused.gif

And if you say "BUT I CAN'T HELP IT!" then that's your problem. Not ours.

If Rockstar said that we are only on the tip of the iceberg, and that from all the information they told us, we barely know the game. Than there's nothing to worry about. Just read the info, and remember that your only getting a piece of the cake < The cakes a lie (whatever the hell that means)
