bezarloss
I think we'll defo get a release date from these previews. Especially when the topic Hilary Goldstein posted on was called "When do you expect us to get new info and a release date?" Hmmmmmm.......... Also Adam Doree the Kikizo Director, when asked when their preview will be released has said here "It could be as early as 23rd January or as late as 30th January, we won't know until next week. It's gonna be a big one." Edited January 18, 2008 by bezarloss

Darrel
hope those screens will be in gameplay taken and screens about new stuff in GTA IV. They're always taken from gameplay. That's why they are called screenshots. Oh, You mean with the HUD?

No, rockstar never give screenshots of the gameplay if i remember well, all the screenshots we have seen so far are "in-game" so from the actual game engine. You know what i mean Darrel
CookPassBabtridge
Nah Darrel, thats not the case at all. I doubt theres one shot from actual gameplay shown so far. Plus a lot of screen caps for upcoming games get doctored for promotional purposes
Darrel
Oh, I stand corrected by both of you above. But what i meant was they're taken from in game. I thought they were taken from game play, but the camera angle is adjusted to a more cinematic view? Edited January 18, 2008 by Darrel

I thought they were taken from game play, but the camera angle is adjusted to a more cinematic view? All of the screens are technically from gameplay seeing as how the cutscenes are being rendered in real-time as opposed to having a loading screen preceded and succeed the cutscene, which were rendered out of game. The graphics we get in the "cutscenes" are the same we'll get while playing the game, which is why the photos that may be from what we used to call a cutscene are technically gameplay photos. Azil2fu
You are missunderstanding between a gameplay screen/footage and an in-game screen/footage. That's not because the graphics are the same that the technique is the same.

That's not because the graphics are the same that the technique is the same. In response to Darrel, I would say a large portion of the screenshots are from gameplay, since its pretty easy to recognize what would be in a cutscene and what would be as result of player interaction. Yep i agree with that. It depends of how you see things, gameplay screen without HUD and from a cinematic angle ? If you call that "gameplay screenshots", that's right, most of the screens are like that. But to clarify things, i would call screens from R* real-time screenshots or in-game screenshots, and the gameplay screens we'll have billions (not from rockstar but from websites and magazines) when it will comes out

Due to us having loading screens in the past version, there was a definite blur between gameplay and the cutscenes, now, with GTA4 having no loading aside from the initial, what is considered gameplay is really irrelevant, as we will go straight from gameplay with HUD and all into a cutscene without a black box and loading time and back into gameplay seamlessly. Smallo92
theres still plenty of loading. just its in secret. Like another good loading trick is to make it so u have to watch cutscenes until it is loaded than u can continue. and animations to stall time like on Tony Hawks American Wasteland. It will definatly highten imerssion(sp). Also i hope the preveiws are relatively long. Like an hour or so. This will give us a good idea of whats in store. Magic_Al
Smallo' date='Jan 19 2008, 00:54'] theres still plenty of loading. just its in secret. But if we can skip cutscenes, like we've always been able to, that doesn't work. Obviously the entire city can't be kept "alive" in RAM at once so there is technically "loading" from disc to RAM but it should be called "streaming" because it won't pause the game. Data will enter and leave memory as needed, hopefully outside your field of vision.
