I want to...but I am at work 50 minutes from her house.

 

Your story just kinda strikes me as a "damn, that almost happened to me" incident. My girlfriend got into a real bad car accident over the summer (June 30th) and almost didn't make it. We wern't talking much because I just got home from the military and we kinda drifted apart after I left a year before. She hydroplaned her Escort ZX2 going about 70mph and rear ended a semi truck. Shattered her right femur, her right ankle, broke her nose, broke her left arm, busted her head open at her temple, tore up the skin on her left wrist, and damaged her spleen causing internal bleeding. It took the emergency crews a half an hour to cut her out and the only thing she was able to say was "Where's Kevin?"

 

She was pretty close to dying, about 10 minutes off, and it kinda scares me thinking about what can happen in one day to take the person you love the most away. We haven't really been apart much since.

Definitely one of the best reasons to get a tattoo. It's one of those things that you know you'll never regret. Nothing like "Now why in the f*ck did I get a tribal band around my bicep?!"

My girlfriend and I have been going out for almost 6 years now and I still tell her how much I love her all the time. As much so now as I did over 5 years ago when I first really knew that I did. She always asks me why I tell her it so often and I just tell her that you never know what could happen 5 minutes from now and I would hate for the last thing I say to her be anything but an expression of how much she means to me.

I've been with my girl for about 3-1/2 years, but I can't say I share the same sentiments as you... Well, I do, she doesn't seem to. It sucks cuz she's like super important to me... We'll see what happens, she has been under a lot of stress lately, so hopefully she's just taking it out on me, and we'll get through it.

Great tattoo . . . yet your loss is depriving me of actually saying "good idea". It really hurts me to see something like that happen, especially someone that close to you. My buddy is getting two tattoos today, and I basically told him to get something meaningful . . . yet this goes way beyond what I meant.

 

Im very sorry for what happen. Me and my girlfriend have been together two weeks, yet it seems I would be in so much pain if that happened to me. You have a strong heart my friend.

According to Maori myth, every line of the tattoo is suppose to tell a story about the person's life. Every detail has to be interconnected to the person who is receiving the tattoo.

 

I know there is more to it, just am not sure. I shall check with all my Maori friends.

 

Evis, I like the design and I love how it is such a connected symbol for you. You made a great choice for a tattoo and the reason is just 'wow.' It is a shame about your loss.

I'd hate to upset anyone, so if you're sensitive to sad stories, don't read. The long and short of it is she had a really f*cked up childhood. I mean from the time she was three until she was 18. Lots of pretty terrible details that I won't go into, but she was hit, screamed at, and mistreated for the majority of her life. Things got good for her a few months before she met me - her mom and her bought their own house and got away from a lot of the negativity. We met, and things were great.

 

Anyway, 90% of the time things were picture perfect with her and I experienced a level of happiness that I didn't even know was out there. But that 10% of the time was really bad. She never really got over how bad things were for her for the vast majority of her life. That 10 started to grow, and things got pretty bad, again I won't go into details. Anyway, it came to the point where it was destroying the relationship, and her, so we talked about splitting up a bit so she could get her stuff in order. She really wasn't thrilled about it, but last I talked to her, she was calm and was about to go to a party. That was 6:30. They say she was dead by 7..hung herself.

 

It's been pretty rough for me ever since, but I know she's not in the pain that haunted her for her life anymore, and remembering that 90% is what's important.
