Eviscero
Hey all. As some of you may know, my girlfriend passed away in October. Her birthday was January 15th and as sort of a memorial I got a tattoo on my arm. It's comprised of two elements. One is obviously a shamrock. Her mom was right off the boat Irish and she lived there a few months a year every year so she was really into the culture. I'm almost 90% irish myself and have been over, but before she died, she bought me this flask that she was going to give me for christmas: So I got that shamrock and inside each of the leaves I got the ancient druid tri-spiral symbol that she had tattooed on the back of her neck: what do you think? makeshyft
That is a really touching combination of symbols. It's personal to you, would be personal to her and is obviously a design that means a great deal to you while still being aesthetically pleasing. I would like it even without the emotion attached. And - to reiterate what has been said - I'm terribly sorry that you lost her.

Very nice tribute and a lovely design tatoo, I think flicko rounded up what I was going to say pretty much. Stay strong. Opportunity knocks once in a lifetime, temptation will lean on the doorbell. Bernard Jazz
That's exactly what tattoo's are meant to be for, to look at them and be reminded of a certain part of your life, be it good, bad, or plain stupid. Good on you

Digïtál £vîl
I don't want to drudge up bad memories, but what happened? I had heard that you had lost your girlfriend but never knew how. You don't have to talk about it on here if you don't want to. Either way, I think it is a fitting tribute to her memory and I feel is the best reason to want to get something like that. Looks good. I couldn't imagine losing my girlfriend that way. I honestly think it would crush me if something like that happened in my life especially since I have been with my girlfriend for so long. I am really sorry for your loss and wish you all the courage and strength to keep on going through life.
Eviscero
I'd hate to upset anyone, so if you're sensitive to sad stories, don't read. The long and short of it is she had a really f*cked up childhood. I mean from the time she was three until she was 18. Lots of pretty terrible details that I won't go into, but she was hit, screamed at, and mistreated for the majority of her life. Things got good for her a few months before she met me - her mom and her bought their own house and got away from a lot of the negativity. We met, and things were great. Anyway, 90% of the time things were picture perfect with her and I experienced a level of happiness that I didn't even know was out there. But that 10% of the time was really bad. She never really got over how bad things were for her for the vast majority of her life. That 10 started to grow, and things got pretty bad, again I won't go into details. Anyway, it came to the point where it was destroying the relationship, and her, so we talked about splitting up a bit so she could get her stuff in order. She really wasn't thrilled about it, but last I talked to her, she was calm and was about to go to a party. That was 6:30. They say she was dead by 7..hung herself. It's been pretty rough for me ever since, but I know she's not in the pain that haunted her for her life anymore, and remembering that 90% is what's important. Sorry if that upset anyone
