Moderator addition: An international passenger plane has crash landed short of the south runway at Heathrow Airport. All 136 passengers and 16 crew escaped down the emergency chutes after British Airways flight BA038 from Beijing lost its rear undercarriage and came down. Six people have been taken to hospital suffering minor injuries, reports say. Passengers at Heathrow airport are suffering travel disruption, with all British Airways short haul flights from the airport cancelled. The incident happened as Prime Minister Gordon Brown was due to leave Heathrow for China and India. His flight was delayed because of the incident. Downing Street said at about 1430 GMT that Gordon Brown had taken off. The south runway is closed while investigators examine the scene - the north runway remains open. All short haul flights from Terminal 4 have been cancelled. Police have said the incident involving the Boeing 777 was not terror-related. Full news story HERE. Brad
I blame the crash to humen error at first, but I need more infomation. Something smells fishy about this. Lose of avionics and power at landing? Hm.

Lose of avionics and power at landing? Hm. I reckon it has something to do with missing the runway and ripping its undercarriage off. That probably did it. Just a wild guess of course. Hope no pussys were injured...Brad

A witness on the rounderbout just of the runway said "I could hear the roar of the engines."
Eddie280
Apparently the Under carrige detached, im not sure id this caused the crash landing or was a result of the crash landing but either way Clives luggage is somewere in the South East. Gouveia
I blame the crash to humen error at first, but I need more infomation. Something smells fishy about this. Lose of avionics and power at landing? Hm. Technically, it is humans who design and build the aircrafts... so it is always human error. Ahahahahahahaha! That was funny, but no. I wonder, why everybody says it's the pilots fault? My dad's a pilot, tho' he never was in a major accident, but always they blamed him. I mean, there are other people for f*cks sake. Also, no. That shouldn't be called an accident. The topic author must have tried to be funny, because NOONE would be killed in that kind of accident. Believe me, I've been on one. The baddest thing that happened in the plane was some broken arms and one person that blacked out. Don't ever try to be funny on those things. EDIT:Since Brad is having problems, and if I post again he'll say I'm a spammer, let me edit this. The way that guy/girl talked isn't apropriated. I mean, if you see the photo of the plane, there's nothing that can't make him/her go all "ZOMG EVERY1 IS DEAD!". The plane isn't burned. It's just an emergency landing. It's common, happens everyday. You want to know what I consider an accident? A Learjet 31 going from a runway and crashing into a lot of houses. 15 dead + a lot of injuries + 5 houses lost. Nobody is dead. Even in Brazil there are news about the plane. Nobody's dead, it was an emergency landing. What was that about. I don't have much info to say whose fault it was. What I said is that everyone says it is the pilots fault, and there's a lot more people involved in aviation than the pilot and co-pilot. Rebel
Strange I just got back from Heathrow on tuesday morning. Anyway, it could have been worse, people could of been hurt even more and more damage done to the actual plane/surroundings. I don't know why they would blame the pilot though. I say he did the best he could.

Picolini
I'm confused... OP mentions blood coming out of the plane (or so I assume, since he actually said blud), and in the picture it looks like tons of blood is in fact around the plane, like it's in a giant puddle of it. But the videos I see it's all white around it...

Taste Of Chaos
The pilot stopped the plane from careening into houses and even schools...One bloke made a statement which made me laugh saying: "The pilot deserves a medal the size of a frying pan." Great skill shown by the pilot, the passengers didnt even know that anything was wrong. Opportunity knocks once in a lifetime, temptation will lean on the doorbell. beavis
Yeah, no blood and gore like originally posted here. This story has been all over the news, apparently he landed the plane with no landing gear and just barley made it. Good to see nothing caught on fire. Brad
Why are you saying "well done to the pilot" even though we don't have much evidance about his story?

Taste Of Chaos
Why are you saying "well done to the pilot" even though we don't have much evidance about his story? Well, It definatly wasnt any of the passengers which managed to land it like that. They say he lost power and had to make an extremely short approach. lol well some of they may have had an incling when the wheels detached Maybe so, but its said that the loss of power was so sudden and so late into the landing sequence that the pilot didn't even have time to tell the passengers. manofpeace
I'd hate to be under the plane when the wheels flew off, aren't they like 2 meters wide? Well, all is well. Didn't even hear about this.
Runey
Wow, I think I lost 15 IQ points reading the topic starter's analysis. Anyway, its great that all the people escaped, turns this into a positive. The company can get a new plane, but family members can't just get another loved one.
