Saget
Got something around 10-15 words per minute, but still, I'll do what Picolini said. Because I look at the S, press the S and an O comes out of it @Saget: I think I can get 40-50 wpm in english. I'm just so comforted with the language that I even dream in english, and I often forget the meanings in portuguese But still, in portuguse I can double it, and my mother can type even faster than me. Of course, she works for, like, 16 years with computers Change the keys, kid, otherwise it's too confusing. I also dream and think in english. I like mixing it with portuguese in sentences, it's funny. I just type faster in portuguese because the letters and how words are spelt comes to my mind quicker. |DeviantArt|Flickr|YouTube|#amf|
Gouveia
Blargh, took the test, I made what I expected. These are the results: Your speed was: 48wpm. You made 19 mistakes, your mistakes are shown in bold text: But soft! what light trough yonder window breaks?it is the east, and julit is the sun! arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, who is already sick and pale with ggrief that thou her maid art far more fair thanshe. be not her maid, since she is envious. her vestal livery is but sick and green, and none but fools do wear it. cast it off. it is my lady; o, it is my love! o that she knew she were! she speaks, yet she says nothing. what of that? her eye discourses; i will answer it. i am too bold; 'tis not to me she speaks. two of the fairest stars in all the heaven, having some business, do entreat her eyes to twinkle in thei spheres till they return. bah, don't know the mistakes. Most are because of the non-capital letter and because of no spaces after pontuaction.

I'm getting quicker with this thing, in no time it will be just like QWERTY. |DeviantArt|Flickr|YouTube|#amf|
Saggy
I got 75 with 3 mistakes at a leisurely speed on QWERTY, and with DVORAK I couldn't even finish the text within a few minutes, got sick of it, and just gave up. True I'm out of practice with DVORAK, but that sort of gap has always been present, so you can see why I don't want to switch from QWERTY. Just took another test, ramped it up: Your speed was: 94wpm. You made 4 mistakes, your mistakes are shown in bold text: I just can't really give QWERTY up, and I mean, those result are from copying things. When I'm actually typing and drawing thought from my own head, the speed I have with QWERTY is just too much. It'd be like going from fiber optic internet service down to 56k, if you want to think about it that way. Can anyone here just close their eyes and keep typing ? That's what I'm doing now, and I know that I added a space in front of that question mark, but I can't see to go correct it, just thought I'd mention. That's just how aware I am of typing with qwerty. Not for the whole post of course, just that paragraph. Seriously, though, typing with QWERTY kind of transcends a skill for me now, it's just an ability that I barely even have to think about. I think this might explain why so many of my posts are so huge. QUOTE (K^2) ...not only is it legal for you to go around with a concealed penis, it requires absolutely no registration! derty
I got a 39wpm on that test. By far the most difficult and non-fluid typing test ever!
Picolini
Well at my normal typing speed with no mistakes (I correct them as I go along) I get right around 65wpm on average. At full speed right now I just got 86wpm with 6 mistakes. IF I typed like that all the time I'd have a friggin heart attack
Saget
Can't type with my eyes closed, but I can type without looking at the keyboard. One day I'll type in Dvorak as fast as QWERTY. One thing that keeps me from typing fast if I switch straight from Dvorak to QWERTY is the hands position. On QWERTY your hands get located pretty far to the left, on Dvorak they're more towards the middle of the keyboard. |DeviantArt|Flickr|YouTube|#amf|
Picolini
I hate the position of the "F" key on Dvorak, it's the most confusing one, imo I've pretty much given up on Dvorak. It was fun while it lasted, but as Sag's been saying, I'm also waaaaaayyy too used to QWERTY, no point in changing for me. I'll probably never get as quick with it, and if I do, chances are I'll never use it besides at home. Also, it was messing with my QWERTY skills when switching back and forth, I kept mixing between the two And yeah, I can type with my eyes closed. I'm actually typing this right here with out my eyes open and I'm doing just fine. Only slightly slower if at all. I'm even able to correct any errors. Gouveia
I'll get a random keyboard and change the position of the keys, so I get a Dvorak keyboard, wich is a lot easier, right? @Picolini: Holy cow, 86wpm? Relax a little man, you need to seriously calm down, otherwise you'll be dead in some weeks.

I have trouble with the M and the O. M, because it is located right next to the W, so I keep mixing both even when I look at them xD O, because of the damn E right next to it. I keep switching both and ending up with funny words like "nerth" xD When I master Dvorak, I'll switch back to QWERTY... |DeviantArt|Flickr|YouTube|#amf|
Picolini
@Vinny, lol. Back in highschool I used to get 110wpm at top speed I guess I've slowed down over the years. @Saget, so you're switched to Dvorak for everything now? You've got some metaphorical balls The M and W is kinda tricky, but I just tried to remember the M key is in the same spot as on QWERTY.

Picolini
Lol, well I'd only get about 1/6th the stuff done, seeing as that's the speed I type compared to QWERTY. I like challenges but Dvorak just makes me feel retarded and restrained, lol. I just installed Ubuntu in VMware, so that's my new PC toy That only makes me feel retarded. Anyway, don't be afraid of coding. It is fun! I mean, look at the site I showed you. That was made using "coding". And you can code so much more! \o/ Only your imagination (and your skills - heh) is the limitation (also sometimes computer resources and what computers can actually do). But even with those limitations, there is quite a lot you can do. EDIT: Oh wait, there was a Greek letter; µ. Gouveia
Bah, just made my own Dvorak keyboard. I'm typing with it right now. Yeah, typing with it is A LOT MORE easier. But I still try to look at the screen and type with it, and it results in slow downs Anyway, I also got a neat plugin, so I can use 2 Keyboards, mouses and Monitors. It's funny as hell, because now I can play split screen on my PC, but without sharing the keyboard/mouse/monitor. AWESOME

Ŋ is the capital ŋ, which is basically indicates ng in IPA. ß is a German double s. ə is another IPA character indicate another sound. And lastly, ʒ is another IPA character. None of these are Greek. You need to learn more about Greek letters, missy. Do NOT ever try to attempt to battle me in writing systems. I have created at least 5 writing systems myself. Moreover; coding gives you reason to sit in front of the computer for your parents, because you can excuse it with that you can earn tonnes of money when you are done. Finally made my Dvorak flawless. The only issues I have is that it has 2 keys more than the normal Dvorak would have. Here are the things I should point out to anyone making it that have the ABNT2 keyboard(Yeah, you saget): Substitute the |\ key with the `´ key, it will be another |\ anyway. Substitute the ?/° key with the Ç key. It won't work nonetheless.(I'm trying to make a double Shift, so it gets in 2 slots instead of one.) But but but but my teachers told me that the ß was the beta symbol, and isn't beta a greek letter? And what is IPA? Nothing makes sense now Ok, ok, if by coding you mean those crazy programming languages, then I'M A FREAKING N00B AT THEM. That's mainly because I never actually learned any of them properly. I just saw ready examples with no explanations, and therefore, it was kinda hard to understand what the hell was being shown. The only things I understood were the markup languages. They're all kinda... obvious. And I got friends who work with programming and they say it sucks to work with that. I guess it's partly because they spent the entire day in front of their computers, and partly because their jobs sucked I wouldn't work with that I guess (well, only if I found that extremely fun and cool), but I'd like to learn just for the sake of knowing those things. And then maybe I could finally get something decent done in Flash xD @VinnyGouveia: Querido noobzinho, Foi por isso que eu peguei aquele esquema Dvorak brasileiro. Ele já vem com ç, já vem com acentos funcionando, td redondinho. Eu não tive que mexer em nada, foi só baixar o .zip, rodar o setup e selecionar o esquema Dvorak BR nas configurações do teclado no Windows. |DeviantArt|Flickr|YouTube|#amf|
