Custom car limit?

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

Does Grand Theft Auto San Andreas have a custom car limit or something? Because it seems whenever I install a certain amount of custom vehicles, the game will stop loading. I select my save game, then it goes to the loading screen, and crashes to the desktop when the loading bar reaches half way.

Yes, my copy of San Andreas is downgraded. I can install cars with ease, but once I install quite a few, then the game ceases to operate.

I have also tried starting a new game, and that doesn't work either.

I do have the no-DVD crack on (easier than looking for the DVD every time), could that be causing problems?

mm.. dunno, if your vehicles are heavy-sized, maybe you must look for a Stream Editor and increase the amount of memory for your cars... but you will have to use your original .exe no other way to use a memory stream hack.

I had the same problem too when I started modding. Might be a small typo in the handling.cfg , vehicles.ide , carcols.dat , carmods.dat.

Don't worry, it's a lot of work to check all those things out, but you'll learn a lot out of it.

Or if you last installed anything that uses bodykits it might be the shopping.dat , veh_mods.ide , etc etc.

Or it could simply be a bad car. But then again, those usually make the game crash while driving, not during loading. Have you checked the lines that came with the readme? I've known some that didn't add up.

My suggestion is : undo the last mod you did, start the game again. If it works, re-install the mod again but be more carefull. If the problem returns, undo the mod again and install another one instead. If that other one works there's something wrong with the mod or the lines in the readme file
