Grand Theft Columbo

Any chance of seeing Christmas lights on the outside of buildings, or Christmas trees in homes? Street decorations or parades?

How about heading to a bar on Saint Patrick's Day and seeing the Irish in their green hats slamming back some colden's.

Will the stores sell Halloween costumes? Can you decorate your own pad with holiday decor?

Why the hell include a calender and December 25 comes along and there ain't no stinkin' trees with presents under'em, no mall Santa, and no Halloween mask to buy on Oct 31st.

Or do you think Rockstar took damn good care of adding their flare to the holidays and we're in for a buttload of suprises?

Sorry if it's been discussed.

Well, it hasn't been confirmed that you will see the year pass with seasons.

However if it does I admit it would be cool to see Christmas decorations all over Liberty City. Like the giant tree at Rockefeller Center.

It would be good to see it happening, and I think everyone would love it.

New Years would be awesome.

Rockstar have a lot of suprises up their sleeves.

You are going toooo fast on realism and pointless things

You post pointless threads so don't be a bloody hypocrit mate. Remember the poll about people wanting to ban you?

That's right.

I bet money the calender is more than just a mission feature and seasonal change.

III revolutionized the way we played games. They said IV will do the same.

Have you played Bully?

I'd bet a donkey the seasonal change and holidays in that game were just an experimental precursor to be added later in IV.

That's what I was going to mention; in Bully the whole environment changed according to the holidays and also characters dressed differently, so I don't see why they shouldn't be able to do this fairly easily.

It's the sort of thing we haven't seen in trailers yet, but I think could be in the game, which makes me think Rockstar are keeping a lot to themselves to make sure we're absolutely blown away when we get the game and make up for this god damn delay!!

If this and other features weren't kept a secret then we'd have a good idea of how Niko's environment would feel all the time before the release, which I'm sure they wouldn't want.

I'm sticking with that.

It's been said there's loads more to see, so... icon14.gif

Not that it is necessarily likely, but just a thought.... if they include holiday decorations/celebrations, where there be special events - in the vein of, say, a Macy's Thanksgiving day parade, etc. How much fun would it be to rampage in the middle of a parade? Shooting down the giant balloons, and massacring Santa and his elves when the parade float comes by?

I sincerely doubt this to be a possibility, but it is an interesting thought

that's not acually a bad dea... i can see that happening. i havent heard this confimation on a calender but i'll take peoples word for it biggrin.gif

in bully it depended on what mission you were/are/going to be on. i don't think it depended on the time of year in gametime.

i can only see it happen through mission progression but R* never ceases to amaze me with GTA soooo... yeah! colgate.gif

Holidays would be extremely great,

You'd have that period near the end of the year where you have Christmas and New Years very close to each other. The Empire State Building should be lit up Green and Red, and there should be snow too. New years should have massive crowds around Star Junction watching the ball thing go down to 00:00 and have fireworks exploding all over town. Imagine capturing that on your mobile phone.

St. Patrick's day bar brawls? count me in.

P.S, as said, Bully handled the seasons very well, so why not further implement the feature into IV?

I would really like definative seasons. It is one of my definate expectations for the game. I think the old Kikizo preweiw said something about a calender but im not sure if its true or how big a part they will play, confused.gif

Confirmation of calendar from Kikizo's Preview 2:

"We really want to use the phone as the primary gateway into Niko's life", explains Rockstar, "it's his contacts list, a daily calendar, organiser, text messages and camera, all working through his cellphone, and of course that's exactly how life is for most of us these days."

Yeah it was based by what mission you were on in terms of progression through the game being based around a school term. So maybe it will be time based in GTA4 rather than mission based; although I could see specific missions being based around the seasons.

BTw does anyone know how much extra there will be in the 360 version of Bully? I haven't done/cant be assed to do much digging on it.

On Topic: Im begging for Rockstar to include this feature of holidays. Let me make a list of all the possible things that can happen.

Halloween - People get dressed in ridiculous costumes, and stores sell costumes. I would love dressing Niko as a "bush". And when people go up to houses, i can say "Happy Halloween Motherf***ers. (shoots them)"

Christmas - The most important holiday i would want. Snow would fall at this time of season. Loads of people shopping in the malls. Apartments and houses have christmas trees. The Giant Treea in front of Rockefeller center. And lights everywhere in the city. I would definitley want to dress up Niko as Santa in a surprise attack. (Niko drops down the chimney) Hey everybody. Look mommy it Santa! Sweetie thats not Santa. Hello Timmy, i got a present for you, and its something people would die for. (even though theres no children in GTA4, i would still find it hilarious)

New Years Eve - Loads of people at the bars drinking, people at their homes celebrating, and a freakin huge crowd of people waiting for the ball to drop at Star Junction. I'd plant bombs all over Star Junction, so that when the ball goes down, everybody goes up.

Easter - ok, not a holiday we would really care for, but dressing up Niko in a bunny suit. "You guys want some eggs? Sure. Why is there a pin? To keep all the chocolatey flavor inside."

4th of July - Nothing like seeing a huge thing of fireworks over the Algonquin skyline.

Happy Holiday folks! Well not really.

Yeah the game should have St. Platty's day...

I really doubt that there'll be. This feature is unneeded.

Nobody knows if it will be in or not. Alot believe because Rockstar did it with Bully that we might see it in GTA IV there is a 50/50 chance. Rockstar has yet to comment on "Seasons". You can't rule it out yet until they confirm its out.

He's right, it's a window. There just happens to be a scantly clad

supermodel posing against a white back drop just outside this window.

It happens to all people who live in New York.
