Randomhero157
I wish/ hope that you can go to jail. That would be sick. Then bribe the cops to let you out. Or when your driving like a mad man, you get pulled over not just shot at, or beaten with a night stick. And when you got pulled over you got a ticket/ fine. That would be so cool. Anyone agree? Any other idea's like this?

YourNeighborhoodKiller
No I wouldn't want jail-time. Why you may ask? Well it would be pointless and a waste of time.
GSF_Sniper
mabye it could be like oblivion and you can just sleep til you get released which is ussually a couple of days Pfft...sleeping is for wusses! Jk I say, it ought to be real jail time. And that means beating up your cellmate for the top bunk, avoiding being shanked in the lunch line with a sharpened spoon, and working out so you can turn into a buff guy. ceedot
When you go to jail in VC, you can hear Ken Rosenberb bail you out of jail with his 'Tommy Vercetti is Innocent!' and such. I think you may have to have an excuse now to get out of jail, since there is a calendar. I would'nt want a 'jail' to walk around and get bored in. I like the old way of Busted and Wasted, just appearing at the hospital or at the Police Station. You actually had money taken off you for the police if I can remember properly, so you most likely had bribed them.

FrozenFire
Oh my god. ANOTHER one. For the last f*cking time: Jail would be a waste of your time. When you're just f reeroaming, you don't want any delay between the time of death/arrest between getting back on the streets to play again. After the 4th time, all of the "fun" would wear off and it would become tedious. Someone should organize a thread of "You're an idiot if you ask these questions:"

Being in jail WOULD become tedious and annoying after the upteenth billion time I get busted. Spawning outside the police precinct after bribing the guards works just fine. Thats something that should NEVER be changed.
josh995
Having jail time in Grand Theft Auto IV would be like you sitting in front of a white wall, and staring at it... It's boring, completely pointless, and not to mention, you could be doing funner things.
RyanWard87
I think it would work well if GTA ends up becoming a simulation game, rather than primarily a crime game. But hey, the closer to real life it is, the better IMO...just as long as it's still fun and utilized appropriately. Like someone said above, jail-time worked for The Elder Scrolls games, but then again, that was only a regular occurrence if you were a thief all the time, and/or commiting other crimes...and that's pretty much what GTA's all about, haha. But I trust R* will make the game with features that will be ultimately fun, no matter how misleading it may seem out of (or in) context. But hey, we'll see/know in 2-3 months! jacquesdutronc
There should be a jail, but you shouldn't have to do time there. It could act similarly to a police station, in that you just appear there after being busted. But i would like to see a mission where you've got to bust someone out of said jail. Ruudeke
Yeah well, it's all no problem for me. with or without a jail. because i never get arrested ( maybe a few little times ) but most of the time i get WASTED. but i hear some people say in here that's boring. first: you did'nt even played the game yet. second: everyone has their own opinion. You wouldn't actually spend anytime inside the jail, you would just appear outside of it after getting busted, if there were no copshops closer to your location. But it would add another interesting area to the map to explore and be utilised in missions.

Gouveia
Indeed. I remember I saw a beta GTASA screenshot where CJ is inside a Police Station near some cells and I was all like "Oh man, you're going to spawn in jail where you're busted and inside a hospital room when you're wasted!!". It was a huge disappointment that it didn't happen
ThomasPL
Niko is illegal in USA. When he will busted by police he should be deported to his country. But i think in this game he will give some $$$ to police for stay in the USA.

CarpetDweller
I posted full lengthy details of why I think Jail could work well in at least 4 of these topics before so I'm just going to post the main parts here and hope your imagination can fill in the rest. Think of it as a whole new separate unlockable area. It has its own series of missions, a new outfit, contacts and weapons. The prison runs like a harsher version of the school in bully with guards trying to keep you in line, regular characters and jobs to do. You can skip out of doing these jobs as long as you aren't caught. You can start riots. You can make contacts that will unlock more mission once back in the outside world. Try to escape. There would be many different ways of achieving this ranging from subtle stealth to full out rampage and destruction or just simply bribe the guard to release you. Like in VCS where you are given the option to buy back your weapons after busted/wasted, here you would be given the choice of whether to go to jail at all. Once busted the 2 choices appear on screen - 'bribe the arresting officer' or 'go to jail'. In other words - you don't have to go at all if you don't want to. I don't really see how people can say it would be boring. They could make a whole game out it if they wanted. It's like unlocking a new island where the inhabitants are more hostile and unpredictible. It reinforces the idea that you are a criminal and generally acting against society. The only downside I can see is the lack of vehicles. I could even foresee a mission in the normal game where we have to get ourselves put in jail in order to break someone else out. If that were the case then the prison interior would really only be used that one time in the game. With the option to go there anytime you are arrested then it could be utilized better. Just to be clear: I do believe it should always be optional. I do believe that there should be entertaining things to do there. I do believe that we should have ways of leaving whenever we want (either bribary, escape or the case being declared a mis-trial). I do believe that carrying out in-jail only missions would go towards 100%. So if you're a completist you have to go once.
maddgamer2
YOU MUST GET PULLED OVER IF SPEEDING IS A OFFENCE in real life if you speed you dont get shot at......................and if you stop they give you a ticket and if you dont stop then they chse you...in real life cops dont shoot much unless there being shot at
