I'm sure everyone here has played GTA: 3.

Well, does everyone remember how you had to do a mission as soon as you started and could'nt interact with the city UNTIL you completed that mission..

WELL,

my question is

DO YOU THINK YOU WILL HAVE TO DO A MISSION RIGHT FROM THE START OF GTA IV,

IN ORDER TO INTERACT WITH THE CITY.?

Honestly, I think they may force you to do a first couple missions, just to introduce you to the new gameplay features or mechanics. Either that, or not give you the option punch or steal a car until you play the first couple missions where it shows you how to do it.

or maybe the first mission will be to explore the city (like go here, go here, go here). Eh? did I just blow your mind?

Greatest Thing Alive

I hope it will be like when you start you can explore the whole city but no skills are unlocked for you. For example you can't buy weapons yet or climb poles and stuff yet only walk around and punch.

Probably Roman will show the sites in his cab, and then someone Lobo at his cab company will teach Niko how to shoot, fight and drive.

That's something Rockstar would never do. It's just stupid. They might as well drop you off in the middle of a goddamn mission, instead of doing such a stupid thing as that.

My guess? You might have to do ONE mission, but then you're free to explore ONE borough.

But I could be wrong. You may have to do no missions, and all boroughs might be opened. Or any combination of that.

But they can't make you do multiple missions. That's just stupid. If they FORCE you to do so much right off the bat, they know they'll lose a lot of faith right there. GTA Games are all about freedom.

My guess is that you start off the game by beeing picked up by roman in the harbour and you have to drive back to the taxi depo, after that you will probably have the option to do the next mission or explore the first borough with limitations, such as not beeing able to buy guns and that kinda stuff...

I believe so, since every GTA pretty much had you to do a mission at first before letting you explore fully.

BTW your sig sucks Ronny.

Oh thanks

it should be like gta 3 like roman picks you up and just you drive to his place and he shows you it then he tells you that he is in trouble with some local gangs then roman sais "hey man catch some rest and we will do some more tomorow i gotta go to my taxi place niko i got night shift"

then its just like SA you can go around town but the next day you have to go down the street to his depot it is only a block away and then he gives you the new features. and you do a mission.

from then on you have all the stores open and you are free to check everything out.

oh yes you and roman live in the same house but roman usually stays in his room or is at the depot. or i am not sure maybe he just stays in the house but you cannot kill him and your attack has no effect.

Off topic: i thought your sig was good i like Jessica alba.

Maybe... You first appear outside of the airport carrying only a bag, you flag down a taxi and tell him the destination *you can't skip this particular ride*, he proceeds to go completely the wrong way and it becomes pretty clear he's kidnapping you. Once the taxi stops he tries to drag you out, but during the scuffle, he falls and you stomp him to death, stick him in the boot, find his address from his wallet then proceed to take down his close family. Stalking the children from school and run them down in daddies cab, prowl the wife, wait until she's in the shower and whack a bag over her head, run into the back garden and strangle their pet dog with newly bought Swing Ball. You retreat back to the cab to rid of the evidence, but a voice is coming through the radio and it becomes clear someone made a hit on you from the KGB; the car blows up...

GTA IX credits roll.

Niko probably already knows how to fight and shoot, remember he's trying to escape a past he wants to forget.

Yes. We will have it. They always have it.

It's for beginners.

Maybe a taxi mission, sitting in the cab and sh*t. They will always introduce every feature with missions.

Yes they will. From what I beleive it will be like this;

* You will start off driving taxis for Roman. This will let you get an idea of where things are in the city and make some small cash.

* After doing a few taxi missions for Roman, you will somehow move up to a better job. Or something like that.

* It is known (although they migh of removed it because of mr thompson) that one of the missions is to go for a job interview with a laywer, so that might tie in somehow ?

* It is also known that you wont be given a gun straight away like the previous games. You will have to fight with your fists (showing off the new combat system). So im guessing that you're going to have to do a mission to unlock the guns.

I think after so many missions where you have unlocked the guns and stuff you will be free.

I think you should do some missions in an area, but you can pony-farm on all the city from the start. So you get to do some missions in, say, Bohan, but you can go to Alderney/Algoquin since the start of the game.

You will have to ride in the cab to romans place and run an errand for him. then after that is done you are free to roam

Awww you know what would be sweet?

ok theres the first and (apparently) only load screen with.

then theres a big cutscene showing how and why niko came to LC and then roman tells you to drive him home/roman will drive. as you drive into a place (all in gametime not cuscene) with an unexpected EPIC view. roman says "cousin, welcome to Liberty City"and then that music from the third/second trailer starts up as the screen goes black and says stuff like "R* presents GTA IV" and all that jazz. and then when these short beginning credits have finished. you find yourself at romans taxi depot. and the game story can begin!

what do yer think guys/girls? epic? colgate.gif

What exactly are we classing as "having to do a mission before being able to interact with the city". What does interact mean in this case?

In the 3D games at least I'm sure you could wander off and do you own thing without worrying about the mission objectives. True, you were technically still on the mission, but you could still freeroam quite easily. Nothing was really forcing us to complete the mission. I've spent hours of gamplay with Claude still in his prison outfit. And wasn't the first playable mission in VC as simple as drive from Rosie's to the hotel. There was nothing forcing us to do that before exploring the city, stealing cars & weapons.

San Andreas did have a gradual progression of missions serving as tutorials on the new parts of the game and gradually opening barbers & clothes stores but when I'm left with the bike at the beginning, that Ballas threat was much stronger in my imagination than reality. I can easily head off to Red County if I want.

Generally I think it should run as before. You should arrive in the city [maybe involving dramatic scenes] and be instructed to go to your safe house. That is the first mission and you can take as long you want to do it. You can explore as much as you want and do most things but you cannot save until you reach the the safehouse. That would end the first mission.

i think it'll be like, you have to do 1 mission or two before you can save and really explore things... like not much will get interactive before you do the first missions...

from the previews it seems there r no traditional missions. Instead you r told to do somthing if you dont want to u dont have to.For example in past game u r forced to answer the phone now u dont have to but the person will begin to call more and more till it becomes unbearable not to answer if it is and import phone call. U can also star a mission and then finish another mission in the middle of it while u wait for a phonecall or for something important to happen. so most likely there will be no beggining mission just an objective like in GTA SA where u have to go to ur moms house cept the game wont be locked till u do it.

PS sorry bout my grammar

I was going to have you pick up the kids from school claiming to be their father's "friend", drive them home, tie them up and rape their mother in front of them - then cause death by asphyxiation, kill one of the children and leave the other to grow up with it (maybe he/she comes back in GTA X wow.gif).

Whilst killing the dog, there was also going to be a "Ned Flanders" type neighbour putting his nose where it doesn't belong, whilst pretending to shear the hedges. This guy would be "silenced" before he has chance to phone the police. Niko would tackle him into the shed door and onto the floor. The frail old man lays nearly crippled, struggling with each breath and despair fill his greying over eyes as he knows his life is soon to end, but how?

You can see an assortment of powertools, the transition from cut-scene to in-game fades and you make the choice.

These would have been added, but I ran out of toast funding and time; the bus was to arrive for college 10 minutes after.
