Kikizo, GameSpot, IGN, GamesRadar, CVG, and 1UP will all pay a visit to Rockstar Games this week to preview the latest build of GTA IV. Ok so the games coming out in about 3 months right? If it was the final build, we would all be playing the game..This must be the first game you have followed or somethin. Same with SA. You think the game was done a couple of months before October? NO, they were still working on it. Devs, can work on a game for as long as they want, until they decide,"ok were done, time to go gold". When the game goes gold, then thats the final build. And games dont usually go gold until maybe 1-3 weeks before release. Devs like to work on their game until the last possible minute. But then again, they denied the first reports of a delay in late July (delayed August 2nd, 2007) claiming it was around 75%-80% complete and still on track for the October 16th release...which then changed to the ever-popular "Late October" and then finally...Feb-April '08. So, me personally, I'm actually more curious as to how true that "75%-80%" was, and if so, what have they been doing this whole time to only have a "latest build"? Or, if the "75%-80%" wasn't true, what was the true percentage? And where is the percentage at now? A report on a German GTA site a couple of days ago (I saw it in a thread on here somewhere) said the game was only at 85%. But hey, maybe that 75%-80% WAS complete, it's just that the percentages between 80% and 100% were much more time consuming? Or, it could just be a bad choice of words. Maybe the editors on the site you got the info said "latest build" out of habit, rather than stating that it is actually a final build...or maybe they don't even know. Maybe they do know and it really is only a "latest build." Maybe even R* don't know. At least Jordan from Planet GTA said he has word that it looked really polished...hell, maybe that's what they mean by "latest build." Maybe a bit of polishing is all that's left to do on this build? Before the game has achieved gold status, it needs to be sent through certification by Microsoft/Sony (which can take anything from a few days to a few weeks) AND pass; THEN they need to send it to be pressed, THEN have it delivered to retailers around a week before release day.
