WalkerBoh
So far since friday the 11th I have not had a cig, or nicotine of any kind. It was really hard the first 2 days. I felt physically sick, cold sweats, headaches, alot of withdrawal type symptoms. I work every friday saturday and sunday, those were the hardest days. Sleeping is a bitch too. My mind is much more active without a few cigs everyday so it takes me forever to fall asleep and when I do I wake up really early. I get to bed around 12- 2 am and wake up at like 7 or 8. The withdrawals seem to be mostly over. I don't want a cig and I don't feel physically like sh*t as much as I did this weekend. My energy levels have gone up alot to. Now I just have horrible lung butter (phlegm). Ive been coughing up gobs of crap since yesterday. Its really sh*tty. I guess I gotta just get through it. Just wonder if anyones ever quit and how long afterward their lungs felt like sh*t. Probably depends on how long youve been smoking. About 3 years for me. TonyZimmzy
I smoked from 14-17, and one day I just kinda said f*ck it, and I quit. My brother thought I couldn't do it, but I did. I can still have the casual cig and not get addicted.
GodfatherITB
I don't really have much experience with it (I've tried it before, never enjoyed it,) but congrats on quiting. I hope you'll be able to tough it out and stay off of them.
1066ant
I have never tried one, even though all of my mothers side of the family smokes. I don't feel like cancer right now. Good luck with the quiting.

Deuce Deuce
That phlegmy stuff is called catar (sp?). Your body starts its recovery stage after a few days to a week of not smoking and lasts for upto three weeks. Steer clear from parties and clubs and the like where you'll more likely be tempted. Eat very sour sweats and chew gum.
Hayden Stasven
Maybe you should watch the movie A Day In The Life of A Cigarette. Good on you for quitting, I think it might help.
SyphonPayne
I quit smokin cigs about a year ago on jan. 9th, best decision I made in my life. Still smoke weed though.
jimmy.
I don't think I could even get addicted to cigarettes. One day I just stopped getting a buzz altogether from tobacco and haven't since. I pretty much try to stay away from smoking anything, though I do use a vaporizer which is a lot easier on the ol' respiratory system. It's good you've quit, it's really a disgusting, not to mention, expensive, habit. How much were you smoking? And Deuce Deuce had good advice; Stay away, at least for the immediate time, from drinking at parties and clubs, because lots of people (probably you too) like to smoke when drinking and it will probably be pretty tempting to bum a cig off of somebody without thinking it out. Straznicy
I was about to say I've only touched tobacco the once, but then I remembered I technically smoke cigarettes too seeing as I mix tobacco with my weed. Meh, I really don't care too much seeing as I'm not a heavy smoker or anything, three times a week is a lot for me. And to be honest I'd rather enjoy life more than live a few extra years. Good for you though if it's what you want. Edited January 15, 2008 by Straznicy
Rhoda
I don't smoke so much tobacco as I used to, mainly because after a few beers the thought of having a cig makes me want to hurl. Congratulations on quitting.
GrandMaster Smith
I had my first smoke years back in the summer of my my 6th grade. Then I just smoked like one to two a day and that was good. Then I smoked alot my 8grade summer while skating and whatnot and I got tired of it then quit. Then last year's spring break came around and I was riding in the back of a pickup truck one night and I decided to have a smoke for the hell of it and Ive been hooked ever since. I probably have anywhere from 2 to 10 smokes a day, and I can easily go through a pack in one night when drinkin. I know I can quit, I just enjoy the relaxation from it so I keep on goin. OH NO
I tend to smoke a lot while out drinking. The amount of cigarettes that i could go through while out clubbing and high would be ridiculous..smoking for the sake of it. Theres also a certain camaraderie with smokers that you get while you are out, or in the workplace or whatever. Im glad of the smoking ban, not in principal, but i definitely smoke less. Plus if i do sneak a crafty smoke it will usually be a spliff. Which i feel less bad about and which actually serves a purpose. Mind you, the only reason im hooked in the first place is that we tend to use a lot of tobacco in our spliffs over here..seems its more of a UK trend. I never touched a cigarette for years, hated em. ANYWAY..yeah, nicotine, a c*nt of a drug, fair play for giving up.
SyphonPayne
I smoke pure weed, not mixed with tobacco so I don't get hooked again, cause it's a bitch to stop and I certainly don't miss smoking a pack a day.

beavis
I started smoking more Cannabis too calm my want for nicotine when I stopped smoking cigarettes. Eventually ciggys just made me light headed and made me feel all whacked out and just stopped wanting cigarettes because of that.

I actually did relapse once after 4 months of being quit, I smoked and then got a huge f*ckin headache and it tasted like ass so I stopped the very same day. Haven't missed them at all. Algonquin Assassin
I only used to smoke cigarrettes when I was in high school, because everyone was doing it, and I thought it was "cool". I was never addicted to it anyway.

I quit for like a year and started to smoke every once in a blue moon, I've gone on and off since then but since my father died I'm back full time again and there's no end in sight (excuses excuses, I know). It's going to be very hard to quit again.
