Tim Dog
Which program is good to make your own tribute videos to put on YouTube? Mixing it with images and audio files. Any good alternatives to Windows Movie Maker?
TonyZimmzy
Vegas. I never used it but some people did.
tuareg
Yeah, sony vegas is said to be good.
Tryst
Nero Vision isn't half bad, from the few breif moments I used it. You can get that with one of the nero 7 and 8 ultra packages. Art Dela Me-+-Ze Music Le Me
Otter
Play around with the new version of Windows Movie Maker if you're on a tight budget. Trust me when I tell you that at this point, your inexperience, not the software, is the production bottleneck. Otherwise, get a copy of premiere elements 4 for 99 bucks. It's got everything you'd need, seamless integration with photoshop, etc.
Hayden Stasven
iMovie is a good tool. Might not be the best for customisation, but at least it's easy to use.
Lost-Fender
iMovie is a good tool. Might not be the best for customisation, but at least it's easy to use. iMovie is a Mac OS X only application. He asked for any good alternative to Windows Movie Maker, which comes with Windows, so it's very likely he's running Windows. On topic, as Otter said, try experimenting with WMM and see if you can come up with an interesting result. You might also want to try Ulead VideoStudio Plus, which is quite powerful. Hayden Stasven
My bad, I must've missed that part. I've used WMM in the past but I didn't really like it and I hope you can find a decent alternative. Sorry to cause any confusion.
Tim Dog
I get an error message when I use Window Movie Maker. I have the latest version 2.1 installed on my computer. Too bad it doesn't work. Thanks people, I'll check out all the programs that have been mentioned here.
Jonny_Tightlips
Find a cheap mac and get Final Cut Pro. You did ask for a good editing program. ...besides that I ain't sayin nuthin.
Otter
cheap mac You're silly. However, I have leopard running native on my PC. There ARE alternatives! Tim, if WMM is crashing, uninstall it, and get a fresh copy from the windows website.
Isara
Sony Vegas is great, but overkill for what you want to do. I would just stick with Windows Movie Maker. You can make a nice video with just photos, fades, and music. Good luck!
ceedot
Adobe Premier and Adobe Effects are good ones I use sometimes. It's a bit more advanced, but easy to use once you learn it. Good for making a bit more professional types of videos.
Trows
Trust me when I tell you that at this point, your inexperience, not the software, is the production bottleneck. This is very true. No dough this post will get questions and and maybe even some fighting.
vininfinite
Cyberlink PowerDirector, very easy to use and doesn't gobble up your resources like Final Cut. Sometimes it seems to freeze, but just waiting a few seconds shows that it can work under hard conditions. : P
Spazifool
Vegas. I never used it but some people did. Its okay...Too Complicated...Okay if you know what your doing. But I still like WMM, unless you got a Mac iMovie FTW..
Slamman
I use Movie Maker since it came with Windows ME on my then new eMachine. I find it is one of the easiest though not fancy. Recently a MM guru online mentioned some tricks available under Vista which I don't have, and there's a site for everything related to it...very nice. I got a Goodwill soft pack with a USB capture device; Dazzle. Came with Pinnacle Studio 8!! DVD burners come with the Cyberlink Producer, and other suites. I have MGI's VideoWave III SE, which supports lowly hardware and Win95 upto Win2K. Edited January 21, 2008 by Slamman
Slamman
Yeah, sony vegas is said to be good. Best reason they tell me is audio sync problems are easily patched by moving the audio discretily while editing. Sorry for a double post, but this maybe helpful, MM still has audio sync problems with the ones I used
